Loyalty Points Inflation

What's the actual cost of going to an away game? If you invest your £50 in the platinum membership and share a car or drink one less pint per game or miss one game you will have recouped your investment and gained the extra points. By showing loyalty by investing in the first place.

Im still a bit in the dark?

i understand about joining the cup scheme and recieving the extra loyalty points 200 for each scheme but then once the money comes out of your bank, do you recieve the extra points that it states in the platinum pack for each game?

Barclays Premier League away game
20

Home cup game

FA Cup, Carling Cup, Europe
20

Away cup game

FA Cup, Carling Cup, Europe
40

its not very clear! Sorry if its me being thick lol
Yes, if you join the cup scheme you get those points plus those awarded for actually buying the tickets. Those are points awarded simply for the act of joining the cup scheme.

Brilliant, thanks for clearing that up!

The way they're handing out loyalty points like confetti is shocking.

The days of earning your loyalty points are over now...money will talk in the coming years.

Not gonna turn down 1080 points though for the sake of £50, mind.

Whilst I don't like this scheme, I think that as well as using the Wembley carrot to maximise revenue, they are also trying to incentivise new fans. We're still not really attracting them and we need to desperately.

At the moment if you're a brand new fan you'll never ever get a sniff of a big match ticket. this scheme means that it's at least feasible in a year or two.

Just been weighing up whether or not to go Platinum and join the cup scheme or stay Gold and save the money to put towards tickets from a tout if we get to a final and I’m unable to get one on my own card.

I didn’t realise how fast I’ll fall behind though, I currently have 5000 points but could potentially get caught up by 890 points before a ball is kicked.

Platinum Membership = 380
Champions League = 200
FA Cup = 200
League Cup = 200
Online Program = 50
Online Magazine = 50
Total: 1080

Gold Membership = 190

This isn't exactly correct.

Gold membership = 190
Champions League = 100
FA Cup = 100
League Cup = 100

So you get 490 for joining gold and cup scheme not 190. Then all the points after that on platinum are double.

Don't forget the 600 bonus points for taking all three schemes.....
Last year I was in all 3 and got 25 point are you saying that’s now moved up to 600?

The cup scheme was 150 points last year then later in the season they were giving you 100 points per game you went to so dont know where you get 25 from!

Last year I got 50 points each for the League Cup, FA Cup & Europe plus 25 for joining all 3. I thought the other guy was saying you get a bonus 600 for joining all 3 this year.

Decide now what you want now.

Personally I can't see the day where the majority of away tickets (Everton, Spurs etc and all the teams below them) will sell out before they get down to an average season ticket holder. You'll be able to get tickets to every home game regardless. So really what you need to decide is whether you want to invest huge amounts of money to make the away games against the top 4, romantic European aways and the odd cup final.

I know there's no way I'll be able to keep up with the inflation and have other things in my life, yeah I might be able to get platinum and sign up to the cup competitions now but at some point someone with a bigger wallet will over take me. I would far rather spend my money on tickets for the less desirable games and beer than all these schemes that give you no tangible good.
