Lucas Hernandez

I haven 3 points in reply to this.

Otamendis improvement was evident long before Kompany arrived in April.

Why is the price of the players important?

How the f"@k can you assume Kompany will be fit?! How?!!

We all want Vinny to be fit but surely no one is stupid enough to rest our success or failure on him staying fit for a third consecutive season.
Will have to disagree on Nico. The upturn in his form when alongside Kompany was far greater than any other upturn in his form throughout the season. By a mile.

The price isn't important to me personally but the price usually has a correlation to the salary earned by the player which usually correlates to their expectation of playing regularly. Stones and Lucas both need to be playing week in week out to develop. They're at the age where they need to play. They're not 18. So how will that happen at City when Otamendi is here (who you already believe to be really good) and Kompany is here (who is undoubtedly better). What if Kompany does stay fit?

I'm not asking us to rest our success on him. I'm asking us to rest it on Stones and Otamendi. You know, the centre backs we have spent 80m on. Fair enough if you want to hedge your bets on Kompany, but adding a 40-50m player to the mix causes more problems than it solves. Especially when he's a) so young and b) built his reputation from playing in a system where less reputationally impressive players are also excelling (Savic for example).

Clearly you feel the best path to success is to have a squad of similarly equal ability players who all expect to play week in week out where's I feel you need to have continuity within the team to allow for full development.

Show me a world class defensive system where the personnel changes on a game by game basis...

What's the likelihood of Atletico's ban being lifted, does anyone know?

Had their appeal heard on April 24th, they were suppose to hear the decision yesterday (May 31st) but the decision was delayed until today.

They were pretty confident it would be overturned but rumours coming out of Spain that it might be upheld, which would obviously mean they will not want to lose anyone (Hernandez, Griezmann etc...). They are just rumours though, so the reality is no one knows and we'll find out today.

I am not too keen with his off the field activities (nothing to do with his overall ability) but if the club are happy with that and see him as viable option then why not.

I heard that the story running around here with his wife was grossly exaggerated/unfair (I personally have no idea).

Lucas is too similar to Stones in that they're not very physical defenders but are very astute-tactically and technically. I
I don't think he has anywhere near the technical skill of Stones but thats my opinion. Otherwise I agree.

KDB couldn't get ahead of Oscar too. There are many variables that determines who starts and who not, not just how good they are.

Yes but one of those variables is he is very left footed which for me is a warning sign.

Surely that means Nico is staying and AK is gone? Nico / Stones / Vinnie was always good enough for me. Lucas is a perfect 4th option. No rush to play him and he can backup LB. Also fits into the Youth Revolution.

Don't think Nico would stay if we signed Hernandez or VVD, would be much more difficult to sell AK than Nico.

I don't know I can see Kolarov wanting to see his contract out (wont get a better offer elsewhere), whereas it is rumoured a number of clubs are interested in Otamendi.

All speculation though. The CAS might uphold Atletico's ban today meaning Hernandez stays and other centre backs linked with us are just rumours at the moment.

Stones / Vinnie / Hernandez / AK seems wildly risky? Agree that it would be easier to unload Nico but seems dangerous. That places a ton of faith in Lucas and Stones and VK injury free. Sounds insane to dump nico at the moment. Hmmm

Yeah. This is going to be interesting to see play out. What happens when the ban gets upheld? We aren't buying another CB and this one seems extremely likely.
