Eccles of course! Just Eccles!!
Our very own Lucy has been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year. Brilliant news and I hope she gets it, it would make history for a female footballer wouldn't it?

I want to vote now but of course you can't until the night 20th December.

Good luck Lucy.

I searched for a thread so Mods I apologise if this has already been posted.

That's one of the many reasons I posted blue b4 the moon. I do not want Murray to win, he's won it before anyway so let's get our girl in there.

Mike N with you all the way. A City Blue it would be brilliant.

Token woman nomination. I bet team of the year is Salford Rags.

To be fair to the BBC there are 3 women this time, a quarter of the nominees. So not bad really.

If Lucy gets it on with Jess Ennis - Hill we might get a result

:)

It's been nearly 10 years since a woman won it. Sadly being BBC it's bound to be someone who's on their sport network a lot so I'll say Murray or Hamilton.

I can agree that 3 out of 12 being women is not enough, and I know you're just being cynical with the Salford bit, but my money is on the England Women getting the team award. The Davis Cup win is spectacular given Britain's history in the competition, but the England women achieved something never done before and way beyond expectation.

I also think our club have been instrumental in helping to bring women's football even more recognition. Of course they're not alone and the sport has been steadily gaining more and more popularity, but we have brought a new level of professionalism to the game which other teams will have to match or fall by the wayside

I object to the BBC telling us who we can vote for out of their compiled list. I shall vote for Lucy, but I suspect the three females in the short list have appeared after the BBC Head of Diversity and his or her numerous acolytes have scoured the female sports world for the three they've got. It should be separated into male and female with two separate awards!

It wasn't harmless, you were wumming under the pretence of nothing against women

I have nothing against women, or men or other creeds, or sexual orientation. Or anything. But I just can't stand poor football, and when it was the national team that was playing, well, I can't say anymore because this will be pulled too,
Except for:
Good luck Lucy for your winning a pointless accolade for playing a sport for which I hadn't heard one credible argument or seen any evidence to justify itself.

Didn't you read it, Karen? He isn't sexist because he married a woman and had a little girl.

Honestly, you birds are always whinging about summat ;-)

Fury will win it with millions of rag votes
