Everyone's going for Delph, with Mendy out for weeks and Delph's fitness issues, can't see him doing 3 games every week.

I see many are calling for Foden to start. Can’t see it tbh. Would love it but it’s a big gamble. His recent cameo hasn’t helped him.

Think we’ll see Delph in the middle and Zin at LB.

Many don’t realize the importance of this game.

Win this and we are guaranteed first in the group. Meaning we have a throw away game against Hoffenheim while Liverpool play Napoli!!!!

Hopefully I’m wrong but I think this game is too big for Foden right now.

I agree, this game will be tricky and we are without kev and bernie, let our usual first team win the game

@Laporte: I learn day by day and I have Pep’s confidence. We continue learning from him to achieve our objectives. The Champions League is an objective of ours. It is one of the biggest tournaments and it’s not easy but yes, it’s what we want to win

.@Laporte: Pep wants us to focus on ourselves and work harder and do more. We are coming up against one of the toughest teams but we must focus on ourselves and do the best we can..

Gabriel Jesus doesn't travel to Lyon because he has some adductor problems from Sunday training. Not a heavy injury but it doesn't let him play tomorrow.

PEP: In the first half, they were better. In the second half, we improved but it wasn’t enough... When you lose the first game at home, the group stage becomes so tough. We did our job winning the next three and we are lucky that opponents didn’t win

Jason Denayer (Lyon, ex-City): "City are a team with huge offensive potential. We will surely suffer, but it's up to us to do what's necessary. I had a good time there and I gained a lot of experience. I remember the positives."

Lyon coach Bruno Genesio isn't sure yet if Nabil Fekir will be available to face City. Genesio: "Nabil Fekir is indispensable in this kind of match, he's our captain. He'll let us know how he's feeling after tonight's training session."

PEP: Tomorrow is a big chance to be in Europe in February. We lost one game and bounced back; we reacted so well but the job is not over. We have to win one more and hopefully, we can close the group stage

PEP: I prefer to have all the squad to choose from but it is what it is. We have to adapt with the guys that are here and we will try to do a good job and the others who aren’t here will do their best to recover

PEP: @BernardoCSilva is in the last step of his recovery before being fit. @gabrieljesus33 had a muscular problem in training and isn’t ready. @IlkayGuendogan has a problem in his feet.

PEP: @PhilFoden is now stronger and able to play with us without a doubt. He plays so aggressive with the ball and without he is so intense. Every time he plays he is so good. That’s why he is ready. He is part of the squad

Genuinely think Phil Foden will be gutted if he doesn’t start tomorrow with 3 of the big hitters out, but suspect pep will play mahrez or sterling in the position.

PEP: For some people, if we don’t win the CL then we have failed, but for fans - they love watching the team. But of course, we want to qualify and arrive in best conditions possible. If we are lucky to go forward in the competition then that speaks for itself.

It’s a big game for him to start especially given they showed how dangerous they can be at our place where they were worthy winners. I can’t see him playing in this one. For me he should have started at West Ham though.

Foden must start. Im not one of these calling for him to start ahead of gundogan, but if we play Mahrez or sterling out of position and leave him on the bench I wouldn't blame him if he started looking at other options.

The ones putting zinchenko at left back and Delph into midfield or the reverse, it's the same thing. Foden has earnt his chance.

How is at gamble ?. He’s more then ready. Pep seems to think he’s good enough aswell. We aren’t going to lose or be weaker if he plays.... he is a first team player now.

If he doesn’t start in games like this when everyone injured/ out then he’s not going to start any important games. And your not already judging him based on 30 minutes the other day ??? He’s not going to be amazing every game, but that’s how he’ll get better, by playing and learninf
