Foden must start. Im not one of these calling for him to start ahead of gundogan, but if we play Mahrez or sterling out of position and leave him on the bench I wouldn't blame him if he started looking at other options.

The ones putting zinchenko at left back and Delph into midfield or the reverse, it's the same thing. Foden has earnt his chance.
He doesn't get to start because we fans want him to,pep will play who he thinks is right to win the game, win and we top the group with a game to spare

Other options? Christ, he's 18.

That said, I would personally play Mahrez through the middle. Has all the tools to do it and was excellent there pre season.

I hate this small-minded attitude. The Champions League is the priority for Pep, the players, the owners and any sensible fan. If we get to the final it would arguably the most exciting occasion in the club's entire history. It's the only goal left for us now.

So because I prefer the premier league i have a small minded attitude? And I'm not a sensible fan? Relax a bit. I would love us to win the champions League but for me it just isn't as exciting as the Premier League.

Is what you said. And I responded to it.

If you meant something else, write that. I can only respond to the words you write

"Boring" It is not boring to me.
"Feels like an international break". Not to me I am excited about tomorrow, really jealous of the fans that are going.
'All about the premier league" , not for me or the club, or many fans,

I do respect your opinion that it is "boring"

Fair enough mate, I was more replying to the other post I just quoted you also. Was just the I'm a celeb bit that got me haha

Sorry if it sounded harsh. I believe that if we fulfil our promise this season it could be arguably the most exciting spring in the club’s history. Especially if the league is won by then!

Sancho MK11 if Foden doesn’t start tomorrow. No point Pep keep saying he’s ready if he’s not gunna play him when no one else is fit.

I suspect Mahrez starts over him though.

How is at gamble ?. He’s more then ready. Pep seems to think he’s good enough aswell. We aren’t going to lose or be weaker if he plays.... he is a first team player now.

If he doesn’t start in games like this when everyone injured/ out then he’s not going to start any important games. And your not already judging him based on 30 minutes the other day ??? He’s not going to be amazing every game, but that’s how he’ll get better, by playing and learninf

I love Phil and he is a supreme talent. But starting away in a game that is a Group Decider in the Champions League is a too much for him now. He’s only 18 but it’s not even the age it’s his 12 year old physique.

The risk is this: he starts doesn’t have his best games, gives the ball in the midfield trying to put someone in, Lyon score, we lose or draw the game, and have to play full strength against Hoffenheim. Foden’s confidences drops etc etc.

It’s a big risk, an unecessary one.

Delph, Fernandinho and David is the midfield I think we’ll see. Full of experience in a group decider.

Yes I would leave also if I were him. I mean Delph, one of the team’s leaders starting in his natural position in a Champions league group decider over me??? absolutely ridiculous!!!!!

Pep keeps saying Foden is in the squad because he's good enough to be in the squad. We have injuries to a few key midfielders this is where you use your squad. If he plays someone else out of position it's a slap in the face for Foden who has been working his bollocks off and has been waiting patiently for his chance. It also shows Pep doesn't believe what he is saying which is hardly going to do his confidence any good.

I’m taking this piss you idiot. I know there’s other options more experienced than Foden but I think as fans we can accept him not starting as long as Pep doesn’t keep bragging over how good he is in a press conference 24 hours before the game. Seems strange.

Stop talking shit, he knows where he stands, and he knows how much Pep rates him, he also has a connection to the club that none or our other promising youngsters so far have had.

For the record, I think he'll start tomorrow, as Pep has made it clear he thinks he's ready.

Relax keefy. What is he supposed to say? A manager complimenting a 18 year old talent, hardly strange.

See my response before you start crying please.. ever heard the phrase ‘tongue in cheek’?

Delph is midfielder is he not? Is it really a slap in the face to start a player that just recently captained England in his natural position over an 18 year old AWAY in a GROUP DECIDER?

I would be completely on your side had we tied up 1st already or this match was at home against an easier team but it seems everyone is so hung up on Foden starting given the injuries that they underestimate the importance of this game. Probably our biggest game of the season so far after Liverpool away.

Rather prefer Delph honestly but why are you comparing this situation with Sancho ? Why put so much pressure on Foden ? He is progressing perfectly without getting burned out . Ffs he is only 18 . He’ll get enough time to develop in his own pace. No need to rush .
