Lyon (H) - Pre match thread

Assuming Mendy and Sergio are unavailable, at least from the start:

Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Delph
Bernardo Fernandinho Silva
Sterling Jesus Sane

Muric Kompany Otamendi Gundogan Foden Mahrez Aguero

If Mendy is out for a little while then I would keep Sane fresh for premier league games where width is more important, and play mahrez instead, but hopefully Mendy isn't out for long.
 
Robbie Fowler in his sunday column is concerned for City because our group is too easy. We will be lulled into a false sense of security and will under-estimate the big boys in the knock out phase

two things

1) Our players are too professional for this to happen and there is ZERO chance of Pep allowing it to happen
2) Why hasn't this deep thinker of the game been given a chance as a coach yet. There's a football genius in there waiting to be unleashed

Anyway, M.Dembele or Depay will start as ST for them so wouldn't be surprised to see Kompany start for the extra bit of pace.

Not anymore unfortunately.

Stones and Laporte to start, both crucial for our build up play.

We don’t have any guaranteed wins in our group. If Hoffenheim finished top 4 in bundesliga they will be decent, we know Shakhtar will give us a game after last season and Lyon won’t be mugs. Ignore the scouse favoured media.
 
Not an easy group the 2 hoffeinhiam games will be classics open entertaining team will be on a par to the napoli games last season.

Starting into the CL campaign means Pep will play the best he has.

Fern will play no doubt, like David.
Sergio too, if fit.

CBs are a tough call, all 4 are on a top level right now.

Mahrez isn't a starter yet IMO.

Danilo or Zinchenko should be on the bench as FB cover.

Delph means: 4 at the back.

Just win. Nothing more needed.

Think he might rotate Stones for Otamendi in this one.

Jesus in for Aguero who I assume we'll be taking precaution with.

Get the game won and get the subs on, would like to see Foden get minutes here.

Put out a strong team, important to get 3 points on the board.

With Delph for Mendy, I wouldn’t mind seeing this lineup. Give Ferna a bit of a rest.
