I've just ahem *bought series 1 for my folks. Should I tell them it starts off slow but gets better as I've not seen it myself?

It does start off very slow but get's better and better, It's hard to explain what's so good about mad men... It's just class.

It's up there with the best ever tv drama's ie soprano's & the wire. Personally I'd rate it as the best. So good in fact if I watch an episode & think it was a little slow ( rare ) I know I need to watch it again as the fault was mine in missing something. As close to art as tv can get.

Excellent start to series 5 last Tuesday; got hooked again right from the start even though its been virtually 2 years since series 4.
A complete absence of January Jones was the only downer though - name listed at the start credits, maybe theyre saving her up for episode 3 this Tuesday ;)
