Why will he be a liability against top teams? When we went 4 at the back against Madrid he looked good and we conceded none. Same against Villa, played good and we conceded none. Rate him highly personally.

I agree. I wasn't sure what he would be like when we signed him, but in the games he has played I have been pleasantly surprised. Contrary to what some have posted on here, I think he looks decent defensively. He is great at getting forward too & some of the skill he displays is great to watch. I think he looks a top signing.

There's no way Maicon is a better defender than Zaba or Micah. Zabaleta's defensive positional discipline is second to none for a full back in the Prem. He is always in the right place, never leaves his man unmarked and is as reliable a footballer as I've ever seen. Micah is a beast in the air, nobody but nobody beats him to a header, positionally he's not as good as Zaba but his strength can make up for that. Maicon is a good defender, not saying he's not, but he's not as good as the other two. He is a better footballer than the other two though. Passing crossing dribbling; he's better.

defensively average, great going forward...basic distribution iffy, fantastc crossing ability(that volleyed cross was something else vs Real)

overall, i wouldnt start him vs any of the top teams but he is a great sub to bring on if we are chasing the game...once richards is back and once clichy is fit the 3 players that shold play fullback are clichy, zabba and richards.....

kolorov has always been weak defensively and so is maicon

zabba and richards while not as good as going forward as maicon have both massively improved in this area and are better defenders

mate you dont half over analise, then come up with a load of bollox. Basic distribution iffy your having a laugh he sees a pass nobody else would even think about. Our attacking play has totally transformed since he came into the team him and Clichy give us the needed width. We have conceeded less goals. No way is he defensively weak. Stop watching the match on an IPhone watch it live and you then may get a full picture

TBF serie A isn't exactly 100 miles an hour is it. While it might be a surprise that Roma are doing well, it's not surprising to see Maicon cope better with the pace of the Italian league.
