Any idea what year that image is based on?

Ignore me please as it clearly states 1934!!!!!!

Might be me but it doesn't seen quite right.

The Main Stand wasn't that shape in 1934, was it?

Gary JAmes territory this of course.

This picture is from 1934, but it's inconclusive because of where it's cropped:

Over to you Gary!

Interesting the brewery advertised in that picture was previously run by a John Henry Davies, who saved Newton heath FC before changing heir name and funding a new gound in SALFORD!
By the time of this pic he was dead. So I dont think their was any malice in the ad.

Would look great framed on the wall of my flat.

I appreciate the dark blue represents the roof of the Main Stand, but I think it'd look better if it was the same colour as the rest of the ground. Pitch markings would also be a welcome addition.

Will be keeping my eye on this.

Hi, my names Steve im the illustrator who's work is being linked in this thread.
Many thanks to those that have visited my site to take a look (I noticed a spike in my traffic from this board)

To answer the question re the grounds layout - ive already spoken with Gary James on Twitter, here's what he had to say:

" Very important that layout of Maine Rd. It is accurate for 1934 & shows the corner Platt Lane roof on plan. In 1935 the rest of Platt Lane was roofed, so ground was like that between 1931-35. This is exactly as it was when 84,569 attended record crowd game in March 1934. You've picked the right plan/year. Good luck with it."
