Predictable reply to this(based on blue tints) but anyway here we go......

Reina,Gordon,Cech,Robinson.

You must be kidding, none of those are better than Shay good as they can be and btw they are not back up goalkeepers, are they.
are you pissed, shay is hugely over-rated, all four of those keepers are ahead of him.

Given doesnt command his area or defence and is too small, I do agree he needs to stay though till summer shit if anything happened to hart i couldnt bear to see taylor take his place between the sticks

I have come to the opinion, after today's game, that City now need to make a big effort to ensure Shay stays until the Summer; as Hart has wobbled a little of late and has not been at his very best of late.

The goal he gifted against Leicester was one thing, a one-off concentration loss, but his tendency to come for crosses and miss out is more worrying. I also feel he is showing worrying signs of losing some of his confidence, maybe through starting to feel the pressure of us being at the top.

Do not get me wrong I am certain we should stick with Hart for now and hope he will bounce back to supreme confidence with the resilience he has always shown.

It is just with us challenging for the title it is better to have a first class Premier League experienced back up, just in case Joe goes the other way and has a temporary loss of confidence. There is no better in the business than Shay.

bang on the money.

No offence, but I completely disagree.

I thought Joe came and dealt with (e.g. punched, caught or made his presence felt) several of the crosses today, he also made a great stop just before the first goal

Even after the blunder at Leicester, he held his hand up and got on with it. That bounce-back-ability is crucial for a young player.

His slight inability to catch is his only weakness, but this is also Shay's major flaw. I strongly suggest we stick with them!

My major question is....do you think Shay Given would have stopped that shot from RVP at Aresnal the other week?

Joe did, I don't think Shay would have.

I made it clear we should stick with Joe and I consider him a better first option than Shay. I do think we need Shay as an insurance policy, we only have to look back to the latter end of last year to know that. Joe can also get injured.

Sorry took it out of context...

I take that point. Its a good one. However I fear Shay is on some pretty hefty wages. I'm not sure we require somebody as high profile as Shay.

For example here are some less high profile keepers at big name clubs;

Scum - Kuzckak, Lindegaards
R. Madrid - Dudek
Barca - Jose Manuel Pinto
Chelsea - Turnbull
Juventus - Manniger
AC Milan - Flavio Roma
Inter - Luca Castellazzi
Lyon - Rémy Vercoutre
Aresnal - Fabinski

Personally Shay is much higher profile than these guys....I would personally quite like to see us get hold of somebody maybe like Friedal of keep hold of Taylor!

Plus does anybody know anything about Gonzalez? He's been around a while!

Reina is the others are not imho, especially Robinson (nowhere near shay) but as I said I am talking about keepers we could get as BACKUP to Joe, not first choice keepers.

Funny game isn't it football. Less than 2 weeks ago we kept a clean sheet at Arsenal and Joe was the best ever, a couple of mistakes later and he is on his way to being a dodgy keeper. Have faith fellow blues.

No way all four are better. Reina, and Cech based on past form are maybe better than Shay but not Gordon and Robinson. Shay may be small but he is extremely agile and excellent at moving across the net laterally which allows him to compensate for his lack of height. Here is a compilation that shows him making a save on Van Persie that is quite similar to the one that Hart made.

I even think Shay is better than Joe but completely understand the reasoning for making Hart the # 1 at this point. I feel bad for Shay that he doesn't get to play but don't want him to leave at this point as we need him for cover.
