As a coach he really was genuinely ahead of his time. As a manager he was average at the very best. Got to say, you couldn’t help but admire his style and panache.

Great that,you can see how comfortable Malcolm was in Venables company, he really liked the guy, Malcom could at times be moody after a game

Allison was Venables’ mentor

Yes at Crystal Palace, Malcolm told Venables to retire from playing as he was too old and slow by then and become an assistant coach instead. Terry told Malcolm he wouldn't have accepted anyone else telling him that, apart from Allison.
