Man City 1 Middesborough 0 - Was it like watching paint dry?

3 world class saves, flashes that Stevie Irelands getting his form back, Given FINALLY giving some instruction/coherence to a defence who couldnt join hands before today, numerous close calls (could have easily been 5-3 to City), Bellamy shutting up the ctitics and finally, 3 points ground out from a game we couldnt have won with a prayer before the transfer window. I could watch it again...and again.

Not the most exciting game obviously but I didn't have a bad feeling and I had a good one but I wasn't too to o excited. Was nice to watch however. Newcastle was an exciting game alot of great passes and touches. Good few tricks as well in there was a blast to see. Last 2 games Robbie has been decent but not shown his regular brilliance ... nothing awesome or trickery to watch same with Ireland. But damn a win is a win!

It wasn't the worst game i've seen, we just seemed to lack the final pass to open up the defence. But on the other hand we seemed to look a lot more solid as a whole, still some silly mistakes that let borough in. I think that we have been playing some end to end football this season which has been brilliant to watch but this has also been our downfall in games.

I enjoyed the game. Frustrating at times but not boring at all. Well worth the money. I even gave my spare ticket to the missus and she enjoyed it too, first game she has actually ever said that about. Given's saves were to me as exhilarating as the shots we had on goal. Watching the replays on MotD this morning make me smile as much as the goal. We are not going to win 4-0 every home game. Decent performance, could have been better and some things to work on (movement and tempo!), but we won and team looks like they are willing to put the effort in.

I would hope MH will consider Caicedo instead of 2 Def Mids for some home matches - the likes of Boro and WBA at home are going to be these types of games and personally I feel Caicedo's direct approach would have worked well with Bellamy yesterday from the start. Not a complaint, just another option to consider. We now have a decent enough squad to do these things depending on the situation.

*edit*
Also, in the past we would have drawn or even lost these types of game. Getting 3 points when you don't play your best is essentail for any top team to be able to do.

thats why Elano should have played IMO

dont understand this at all

I actually though it was a pretty entertaining game for a City/Boro match ..... better than the norm anyway!

They created four really good chances ..... we probably created more chances overall , i reckon around half a dozen ...... there was a good goal thrown into the mix , and only one booking ...... some top saves by both goalkeepers too .

No ......... take it from me there have been far worse games between the two clubs down the years!
