man city fans jakarta celebrate title (video)

Had to google where Jakarta was as I had forgot (lol)

Great video, good celebrations but had to laugh when the Indonesian guy starts singing: the only football team to come from Manchester, oooh man city"

That one amuses me so much - particularly that quite a few start laughing at the gutting moment. And also the guy that starts singing in a failed effort to rally the troops. He doesn't appear to know the words "mumble mumble de di dah de never die"

I thought all of our fans were from Manchester!!

being from outside the greater manchester area yourself you'll understand that "our" fans are actually just as worldwide as most clubs, of course the main difference to some other clubs they have had no glory to attract them to city. luckily their loyalty is now being rewarded.

It doesn't necessarily mean that they've been supporting us for very long though... Nonetheless, I really don't care. In these times of global branding, our only way to compete with the way things will go is to have as many people following us as possible. I know the journey I've been on and that's just fine with me.

As an aside though, the passion of these guys is brilliant - if we have fans like this I don't care where they're from or how long they've been supporting us.

Globalisation is here, welcome to 2012.

Bang on and it was good to note that those Indonesian Blues stayed until the very end and their passion at celebrating was no different to that in either Mary D's, the Waldorf or the Bank and to cap it all they did not need the alcohol. lol.

Please can we not use the word 'fan' so liberally.

I've been explaining to many reds for years, that the word 'fan' is short for fanatic
and how can you be a fanatic when you never go to the stadium?

The fanatics go to the stadium, the rest are 'admirers'.

If you never watch your team live then you are actually a 'fan' of a TV programme.
I usually ask these United fans (as they call themselves), which other TV Shows
are you a 'fan' of?

I did notice that the report I read about United's 659 million did call them followers and not fans.

I think that's just arguing semantics. Fan, supporter, follower, whatever, are all synonymous... Rather than who goes, who has been or how long someone's been a 'fan' they're distinguished for me by how genuinely they feel for the club. If it's part of your identity then it's a real thing.

I've got a United fan mate who lives in LA. When he lived in Manchester he never had any money and didn't go much to Old Scaffold. Now, he gets up at stupid hours for every single match, even friendlies and falls out with me on Facebook over football. I might not have much time for the team he supports but I don't doubt his passion and that he's a real supporter.
