Sturridge is going to go the same way as Dickson Etuhu

Would that be the Nigerian international who scored against us last month, and who will be playing in Europe next season? ;)

Still. I do think we need to take a good look at our younger players. Of those who came through the academy, and were good enough to break through, only Ned has not caused us stress - Micah, Stevie, Johnson, Sturridge, Barton have all gone off on one to some extent. Micah seems to be back on track now he's playing well, and Stevie seemed to take it upon himself to get sorted, but it's not a great record for the club with supposedly the most successful academy in the country.
Does that therefore mean that he is a top class fotballer? Using that argument, the likes of John O'Shea, Park Ji Sung, Darren Fletcher etc are among the elite of European footballers. No? You see what I mean? Etuhu is lucky in as much as he is playing in a well organised, very well coached team under Roy Hodgson (manager of the season, IMO). IIRC, Etuhu demanded more money and a place in the first XI under KK, and when he didn't get it, he left. Sounds familiar.

etuhu wanted 2 leave because he wanted to "move to a bigger club" and was wasting away at preston for a gud few years. in my opinion sturridge has shown signs of looking like a good player but he also looks too greedy and i wudnt pay him 45 grand a week if he had the powers of superman to be honest hes a greedy twat.
if you want 45 grand a week daniel son youll need to show us a bit more than that
i think if he goes he will regret it because he will end up at a team that will be fighting relegation and will get less than he is paid now

if he doesn't want to play for us than he should fuck off out of our club
greedy little arrogant twat

Thinks he is better then he is I thought I saw a future star in him but now I just see a future greedy TWAT just want more and more money in the future. All he has to see what happens to city youth players that leave the club some of them even leaving expecting a better career.

SWP to Chelsea (only player that saw sense and came back home)
Barton to Newcastle (Hahahahahahahaha)
Lee Croft to Norwich
Stephen Elliot to Sunderland
Stephen Jordan to Burnley
Dickson Etuhu to PNE
Willo Flood to Cardiff City
Ishmael Miller to WBA
BWP to Southampton
Chris Shuker to Barnsley

and that's just a few I can remember fair enough maybe some of the following didn't show the potential as Sturridge did but I'm sure everyone will agree SWP and Barton did then you had Miller BWP and Croft that looked ones for the future and look how there careers went SWP knew what was best to do for his career and knew he did wrong for leaving us and also admitted winning a trophy with us would be far better then the medals he won at Chelsea cause he knows he will be more apart of it here then he was at Chelsea.

Sturridge can be greedy if he wants if its money he wants and not a good football career then fair enough but I'll be damned I want him getting rich off our clubs money.

the ***** living in dream world if he thinks hes going to walk in to chelski`s, rag`s, arseanul
or dippers first team, infact which team would he be first choice in, that could afford 65,000 a week. the answer daniel, none you thick tw@t

Its in the MEN he wants £35,000 to £40,000 a week not fucking £65,000.
You seem to be suggesting that those kind of demands are reasonable for a player that has, as yet, done absolutely fuck all in his career. He should be on around half that with promises of increases as and when he proves himself in a certain number of games. I'm sure that will be the kind of offer that's on the table, so if he thinks he's better than that he can do one and find some other mug to pay it.

On the other hand, he might just be seeking first-team football somewhere. All you have to do in the Premier League nowadays to earn a monstrous contract is to get 20 good games under your belt (look at RSC as a prime example). He knows he probably won't get those games at City next year and is willing to go to Hull/Stoke etc for 15k a week in the hope of impressing and getting a big-money move the following season.

If it's the first scenario, fuck him. If it's the second scenario, then fair play to him as that is probably the best move for his career. None of us really know though, do we?

Someone on here said the other day that we would all be "very suprised" when we found out who he'd signed for

When can we expect to find this out? Seasons over now so spill the beans!

Heard it's United. That would probably make him the most hated Ex City player since quite a while?
Yep, I'd love derby day even more with Tevez in our starting eleven and Wee Knob on the bench for the scum. The chants would be class. Little twat should fuck off now, windows open - do one.

The thing that gets me about it is he obviously wants to go to that next stage of his career, i.e getting regular starts and making a name for him self...fair enough.....but to do that realistically he will need to play for Burnley next season because a club a rich as ours or as good as chelsea cant take a gamble on a unproven kid and start him for 10 games hoping he comes good, because they/us need good NOW. So if he goes to chelsea its for one reason....cash. I hate all the money in football but if it is going to be paid then pay it to performing players not prospective talent. Let him go the way of Franny Jeffers, SWP, go to the big lights following promises but coming back a year or two later with his tail between his legs. He will be nothing but a bench warmer at any big clubs untill he learns to score lots which as yet he hasn't done. Wouldn't he be better served staying within a family who knows/loves him, will stand by him, give him breathing space, support him. He strikes me as another Nicholas Anelka. Great talent, may get some success here and their but ultimately played by people advising him as a tool to earn money and no matter how well he does will always be tainted goods because of his attitude!!!

Let him go....he aint that good. He's never gonna be World Class, as those types of players have usually made some kind of mark by his age. He's not done alot to show that he's gonna be anything more than just an above average to good striker....not brilliant.

I'd laugh my socks off if no-one came in for him except mid table clubs, or those newly promoted.
