It does not. We just need one or two players every some years for our spine than our youth work is very fine. Lahm 1983, Schweinsteiger 1984, Badstuber and Müller 1989, Kroos 1990, Alaba 1992 - probably Höjbjerg 1995 and Gaudino 1996.

Oh - Hummels 1988 - so he is at Dortmund - you have to mention, too. Or Soriano who made his debut for Italy last week who is of 1991.

That is what youth work at top clubs is about. To find that one or two gems each year that make it into the league - and best to the top.

I apologise to Bayern Blade, it's Maldeika who makes the raggy comments. Well done mate. You didn't buy your success either.

I do not know why that makes it a raggy comment. I just explain that good youth teams do not transfer in successful adult teams. Neither Schweinsteiger, nor Lahm or Müller had really much matches in the German U-teams - the ones who did very often play now in the 3rd or 4th league or in Turkey. Bayern's best youth player of that 1984 generation who still leads the charts for goals scored in German U-teams plays in the Turkish 2nd league. Or look for the name of Berkant Göktan... - he was the best youth player who has ever played for Bayern...

If raggy is being realistic and watching what happens to youth players for decades...

Just because teams have been poor at bringing through a substantial number of players in the past, doesn't mean it is a rule that it will always be the case.

Clubs have been lazy, particularly in this country. It's easier to pinch the players from someone else when they get older than to put huge resources into trying to create a sigjificant number of your own. But City are trying to do something better, & putting almost unparallelled amount of effort into it, & the fact we keep shafting Bayern up the arse at this level, suggests we are on the right lines.

Taped the game and I am watching the replay atm.

There are so many players with terrific potential in this team. Ambrose is outstanding. For all the talk of Pozo, Ambrose is a very skilful player with enormous talent. The only thing with Ambrose is that I am not sure what his correct position is. Viera has him playing as a winger with Celina in the centre, but Ambrose looks like he would be a ready made number 9.

Other players who stand out to me are Angelino (a cultured left foot with great touch), Barker (of course), Gunn (future star), Celina (scored a top class goal), and our 16 year old string bean defender Adarabioyo (already an England international who, once he fills out, will be a monster). I thought Ntcham and Jack Byrne looked good as well.

Well done to Viera. He has them playing a great style of football.

Solid performance. Bayern didn't have much of a sniff. If this reflects the two clubs' future yer can't help but smile!!

(I do not know how that U19 team of Schweinsteiger and Lahm who fielded Misimovic and Trochowski etc. would perform today - the U19 team of 2007 with Kroos, Badstuber and Müller who had others that made it into the Bundesliga, too, did not even win the German Championship (Müller ghosted the 1:0, he got subbed, they lost - seems like a pattern) - and would have looked totally lost against a team like yours, too)

For what it's worth I thought Bayern's best player was the right back, Felix Pohi, who had the better of Barker until the winger moved inside.

The other thing I noticed was that City played a similar pace and pattern to the first team, whereas Bayern were adopting a more British style of long balls behind the full backs for the forwards to pull wide.

I agree with what you said about the Munich RB. If Ambrose had been up against him, I am not sure he would have been such a stand out.

I was impressed with Bryan. He cleared up very effectively without having to dash around at 100mph. He's a clever player and he can pass the ball too. He looks like a Prem footballer in the making, in my opinion.

Overall, we were technically better, quicker and stronger than Munich. An impressive performance. However, Bossaerts does not look like a RB to me.

I don't watch the Bundesliga so I can't compare it to the prem but I find it strange there are no black players in this Bayern youth team.

I'll be honest thats an odd thing to pick up on pal and I hope you are not insinuating anything.

In any case I've got Roma and the actual Racists on tv at the mo, god the Moscow Manager scares the shit outta me when he starts a rocking.

Great win by the boys! the quality in this group is immense, a lot of them have the potential to make very good careers for themselves[/quote

Could be that they recruit local lads from Bavaria. The club seem to be able to sign ready made players when needed, nothing to do with race.

It's a weird one that seeing as he's playing at RB when he's a centre back nominally and Maffeo is at CB despite him being a RB.

Boesserts always looks significantly less impressive than just about everyone in both the EDS & the U18s to me, & also should certainly be able to do a better job, with his build, at cb. Yet he is still there, & playing often.

I wonder if they can see something in him which we don't & whether perhaps he's growing & that is affecting his performance. Perhaps they are trying to increase his mobility by using him at fullback & toughen up Maffeo by playing him cb.

Maffeo is as good a prospect at fullback as Angelino imo. Better defender.

Boasserts though is a strange one.

That was a great performance yesterday, excited by Byrne, made some great Lampard-esque runs into the box, fought like a terrier in midfield to hold possession and what a free-kick, I have a feeling he'll be a star for Ireland at international grade in future even if he doesn't make it at City. All 3 forwards were fantastic although Barker had quiet patches and the defence looked a lot more solid than the previous occasions I've seen them, although Bayern didn't offer much going forwards.

It seems to me that playing the kids out of their recognised positions is probably a development method,i cant see any other reason as,when there is no apparent requirement for doing so,several of our players have been utilised in this way.

It would make sense to give them with the opportunity to play in unfamiliar positions to provide them with an improved understanding of the game as well as an empathy with their peers.
