Was just talking to a massive blue about memories from Maine road... One of my abiding memories was Millwall at home and getting hit by a coin (luckily nowt bigger) in the North Stand. That was a fucking rum day in Manchester and seeing the blue marias at 10 in the morning made me realise what a long fucking day the old bill were gonna have that day..

Was just wondering what stories/memories fellow blues have of that day...Think it was the same game that the rags got slapped at Stockport...

I went in the Millwall end with a City shirt on by mistake. Nice set of lads.

Remember a game at the New Den around this time - locked in for about an hour and half after the game - while the nutters smashed up their own 'manor'. pretty scary! Think the game was 1 each.

Was this the game at the den where SWP scored? I think it was a night game...

The game in FEB OF 99 was mental.I remember behind the North Stand they had erected a metal fence to stop there ob getting to the city fans behind the North stand...mental days!!

Arghh yes...Fuck that has just reminded me..I listened to that game in bed...piccadily..."It's a goal"...top memories mate.....

My season ticket seat was in the back of R Block in the North Stand in the last seat next to the away fans.

Normally the stewards had some orange netting which they put over 3-4 seats to create a little gap between the home and away fans. The first thing Millwall fans did when they came in was to occupy those seats covered with netting so they were right in the City fans faces. There was a small concrete wall separating us

There were no empty seats, and you couldn't lose face so you had to stay. Didn't enjoy it one bit. Stayed there until Terry Cooke fluked a third goal in the 2nd half then the seats and coins started to fly. And bear in mind that there's nowhere to move to and that these are coming from almost point blank range. Riot Police moved in and they were truncheoning Millwall fans. We moved into the aisles at that point.

Loads of adrenaline, but there wasn't really much fighting between fans.

Fisticuffs with Utd fans in the North Stand in the 5-1 was the only time I saw any fighting in the North Stand.

When we had the Kippax. I was next to the away fans cage by 2pm so I was addicted to the aggro but it was always just mouth.

we was in the kippax nearest the platt lane end and i think it was just after dickov scored his stuffy goal against spink that it went off, just remember looking at the seats flying and the coppers giving it back to both fans..

then when the final whistle went and we made our way out it was absolute carnoes outside, the police helicopter was overhead and we just heard this almighty roar and it was the millwall fans coming out,you didn`t know who was who as there was lads running in all directions, you could hear bottles smashing and sirens everywhere, horrible millwall twats they was...

I've never really understood why it all happened. Was there any history between the two set of fans?
i think it was just a case of we hadn`t played eachother for a few years and as we had a tasty firm at the time, everyman and his dog wanted to have it with us when we was in town....plus millwall would fight their own grannies if meant spilling a bit of claret for a giggle...
