Man City's best 11 ever!

Schmeichel
Zaba Kompany Demichelis Kolarov
Vieira Yaya
Silva Benarbia Robinho
Aguero

Subs, Hart, Van Buyten, Clichy, Lampard, Berkovic, Dzeko, Sturridge

Was hard picking between Demichelis and DVB and Berkovic or Nasri.

Demichelis in front of the likes of Watson, Doyle or Hendry? Robinho in instead of Lake or Bell? Are you fishing?

I'd have Demichelis over Colin Hendry any day. Not old to have seen Bell or Lakey so won't add them in,despite my dad raving about them still.

No places ever for players who are reds i.e. Schmeichel, Andy Cole, Law and even Kidd, or players with significant affinities to other clubs i.e. Royle (Everton), Channon (Southampton) and even Dennis Tueart is a Newcastle supporter at heart and also appreciates his time at Sunderland (figure that out) ! etc. please. Exception - Peter Barnes played for the reds but City at heart.

Trautmann has got to be in there, arguably just ahead of Frank Swift, and what about Peter Doherty and Billy Meredith?

Swift for me just ahead of Trautmann. Both great ability and thus local bias (Swift born in the North West) edges it.

Billy Meredith - yes important City figure (scored goal to win Citys' first trophy in 1904 v Bolton in FA Cup Final) but edged out as he played for you know who also and was involved in a bribery scandal.

Peter Doherty though, yes a fair shout. I will add him to my Premier League squad after the January Transfer Window !

He is my all time top 30 list though !

Man City top 30+ players – All Time

1. Colin Bell
2. Mike Doyle
3. Frank Swift
4. Bert Trautmann
5. Franny Lee
6. Eric Brook
7. Sam Cowan
8. Roy Paul
9. Mike Summerbee
10. Alan Oakes
11. Roy Clarke
12. Glyn Pardoe
13. Tony Book
14. Vincent Kompany
15. Neil Young
16. Ken Barnes
17. Peter Doherty
18. Pablo Zabalata
19. Sergio Aguero
20. Tommy Johnson
21. Ernie Toseland
22. Horace Barnes
23. Joe Hayes
24. Paul Lake
25. Peter Barnes
26. Joe Hart

Also on a side note - the best ever City team\era ?

Citys’ Golden era (1968 - 1976)

1968 League Title winners
1968 Charity Shield winners
1969 FA Cup winners
1970 League Cup winners
1970 European Cup Winners Cup winners
1972 Charity Shield winners
1974 League Cup runners up
1976 League Cup winners

Summary
1 League Title
1 FA Cup
2 League Cups
1 European Cup Winners Cup
2 Charity Shields

7 Trophies
(20 points)

Current era (2011 - 2019)
2011 FA Cup winners
2012 League Title winners
2012 Community Shield winners
2013 FA Cup runners up
2014 League Cup winners
2014 League Title winners

5 Trophies
(18 points)

If we have say:
5 points – European Cup\Champions League
5 points – League Title
4 points – Ueafa Cup\Europa League
4 points – FA Cup
3 points – European Cup Winners Cup
3 points – League Cup
2 points – World Club Championship
1 point – Super Cup
1 point – Charity Shield\Community Shield

Can we win the League again ? how many FA or League Cups ? Can we win a European trophy ?

There seem to be quite a few similarities between the 68-76 era and this era.

For Mike Doyle read Vincent Kompany ?
For Franny Lee read Sergio Aguero ?
For Joe Corrigan read Joe Hart ?
For Tony Book or Glyn Pardoe read Pablo Zabaleta ?
For Colin Bell read a mix of David Silva and Yaya Toure ?

Do we have a Mike Summerbee or Neil Young ?
