What you guys think?

Strikers: Tevez, Robinho, Roque, Caicedo, Boji, Bellamy, Evans, Benjani and lets say if we get Adebayor!

Thats 9 strikers. Lets say Evans, Benjani, Caicedo go from City that would leave us with 6 strikers.

You can cut that down to 5, if Robinho plays down the left wing. That leaves Tevez, Roque, Bellamy, Adebayor, Boji to fight for two spots.

If Tevez and Adebayor start, Roque of the bench that would be unfortunate wouldn't as he waited for 1 season to rejoin with Hughes and sit on the bench. In addition we wont have Europe to rotate and have enough games for the squad.

I feel, we can leave Adebayor and stick with Roque and lets really give Boji a great run and go with Bellamy thrown in. If Bellamy doesnt get games I just hope he doesnt act like a prick and create dressing room problems.

I just want two solid, top class central defenders and that should be us for the window. So if Hughes does get two of the following defenders we have been linked with I will be over the moon.

1. Terry - Number one target have to get him.

2. Puyol - Apparently hasnt signed his new deal, we have been linked. Imagine him and Terry wow, that is beyond belief, but I dont think he'll come.

3. Lescott - to partner Terry in heart of our defense.

4. Lucio - 31 this yr, however is class and Brazil captain.

5. Samba: Dunno, I think we can get better....

agreed. I believe Lescott is coming. Goal.com also report we are in for Neven Subotic of Borussia Dortmund if the Terry deal falls through. I know its only Goal.com but Subotic is a rising defender, shut down some of the better attackers in the Bundesliga last year, and scored his share of goals. Only 21 and cost around 10m.

If we get Adebayor ....

ADEBAYOR, ROBINHO, TEVEZ, RSC,

Who would you have as the 5th striker Bellamy or Boj ?

Robi and Tevez have pace....so I would say Boji...i've got a soft spot for him. And would drop Bellamy not a fan of his, given he is a fighter,,,but comes across really abrasive personality with potential to create dressing room issues.

If Hughes doesnt start him, he could really damage Roque, Tevez and god forbid our Robi..with a golf club,,hahah

Clearly were going 4-3-3

Tevez - Adebayor -Robinho....easy choice with RSC getting many games due to rotation and injuries, Bellamy and Boj would make a good back up

Barry - De jong - Ireland....again obvious chioce...Elano, SWP, Petrov getting many games for reasons stated above

Defence remains an issue...Personally don't want Terry due to age and the fact coming here is more about money...Chelsea will see him right....Lescott is the right age another proven another central defender is required....Can't see Arse letting Toure go....

Zab and Richards got the right side covered.....Left side needs another signing

As for our goalie...thats a given....

I just went from reading this to playing 'Missing Man' on Sky Sports website. The team was from 2004 and looked like this:

James

Mills Dunne Distin Jordan

SWP Barton Bosvelt Sibierski

Macken Fowler

... Give me a top heavy bunch of class strikers anyday.

Quite a few folks on the radio and in the press are making light of our striker line up (having too many or a team of strikers blah blah fucking blah) but all of them seem to fail to note that Hughes has made it very clear in the media that he will be bringing in players before letting players go. I know big phil has admirers on here but I just cannot see him getting much of a chance next season irrespective of whether or not Adebayor is coming (I think he is!). The same can be said about Evans and Benjani. Maybe, just maybe either Bellamy or Bojinov will be moved on...mind you having said that Adebayor will be out for six weeks or so with the African cup of nations.

Just remember folks, don't get too sentimental about some players, City are a far different proposition these days and the future is bright. We're aiming for the stars and not looking at moving a position or two up the league. Having to choose two or three from Robinho, RSC, Tevez, Bellamy or Bojinov and maybe Adebayor is a great selection headache to have.

Agree re Bellamy.

Personally, I feel he wont get many games this season. He is not better than Tevez, nor is he better than Boj or RSC or Robinho.

If he acts like a dickhead in the dressing room, then Hughes will sort him out, because we know from the Elano circumstance that Hughes wont take players' shit!

It really makes me laugh when the media keeps saying we got to many strikers, either they are on a wind up or they haven't got a clue. URG is there something you are not sharing with us as regards Adebayor :).

All I know is that City are aiming for three more players on top of the Tevez signing last night. It's Adebayor or Eto'o, Terry and one other...that last spot I am fairly sure is Lescott. And that seems like the lot for this window.

Its simple, the four strikers are Ade, Tev, RSC and Bellamy, because Robinho will play Left Wing with a free role, you just sell Caicedo, Bojinov, Evans and Benjani.

Depends what formation you play plus Adebayor will be gone for a large chunk of the season early next year...plus you have to factor in that RSC & Bellamy don't seem to get through a season without a spot in the physio room.

I thnk there are 6 players we would say have a future sharing those 3 forward positions.

Robinho - Ade - Tevez
Petrov - RSC - SWP

with Weiss as cover for both wings.

The great thing about the second choice is it's an old fashioned winger centre forward setup. Which is a great option to have.

Sadly I thnk Boj is a fall guy. Bellamy may be useful to keep around but clearly every other striker is out.

I would be delighted now if we get the three you mention, that would be without doubt our best signing spree ever, just the job then for Mark Hughes to gel them into a team.

At least we can look and the bench and know there is at least 4 players that could make the difference. Last season that option really was'ent there.

I think we will start with 6 strikers

RSC / Adebayour
Tevez / Boj
Robbie / Bellars

All different I can see Benjani, Ched and big phil going, see all have been linked with other clubs.

Everyone on here moaned about RSC and seeing if he could remain fit, sames with Bellars, Boj has just come back from two serious injuries, its a long season even without Europe plus after Christmas that is when you need large squad for when tiredness kicks in, suspensions and injuries.

Paring the rest of squad in pairs

Zab/Richards
Kompany / De Jong
Barry / Johnson
Ireland / Elano
SWP / Petrov ( I know they operate on different wings but are both wide players if needed)

New CB / Dunne
New CB / Onouha

Bridge / Garrido

Given / Taylor

That is a squad of twenty four with every position covered, add six kids from Academy brings it up to thirty. Only my opinion.

Benjani - sold or in the stiffs, can't see him ever getting another game for City
Evans - sold or out on loan
Caicedo - out on loan - maybe sold
Jo - Loan/Lescott swap maybe? - seems strange we'd loan him out before the season even started or before City had any replacement forwards signed........

This leaves (different view to most posters)

..................Adebayor/RSC................
Robinho/Bojinov.................Tevez/SWP

Leaves Bellamy as a good impact sub for right wing position or even in main striker if we need pace there.

Don't forget Boj is a natural left footer and it may be heresy but I think Petrov will be going, I doubt Hughes will put up with his half-arsed attempts to help cover that left side. Robbie can get away with it a bit because of his overall class but he still puts more of a shift in "trying" to help than Martin does.

Also, this is probably City's last chance to get a decent fee for Petrov as he is 31 in January. I know we don't NEED the money but we would be daft to turn down £5m or so for a 30 year old winger who won't track back.......

Just my take on it....

i think most agree 3 main strikers will be robbie adebayor tevez, i think back up strikers will be rsc and bellamy the rest i think will be sold or loaned, swp can play in numerous positions, cant see much of a future for

evans
benjani
petrov
elano
bojinov

especially if we want weiss to get some games and johnson to sort things out, i think we will be sad to see some go but for the sake of their own careers it will probably be in their interests. We are know in a situation where the manager will have to decide who can take us to the next level. It wont be good having several players not getting games as this will lead to a lot of bad feeling. unfortubately we will see a lot of players we like leave, we can only wish them the best of luck

I know it's a big if, but if Elano stays and his attitude is correct he will remain a valuable squad member. I can't see him starting too many games, but he certainly has the ability to come on and influence a match from the middle of the park. Also if Ireland got injured/suspended etc. then we would need that creativity in the middle of the pitch as we don't have have it from a central position. Out wide then SWP and Petrov give great options.

As for the strikers I would have to agree with most that the first 6 will be Adebayor (can't see him not coming now), Robinho, Tevez, RSC, Bellamy & Bojinov. Surely Benjani and Evans will be sold. I feel a bit sorry for Caicedo, but I think he will have to go out on loan or accept a move.

Benjani, Evans and Big Phil will be sold (I hope we only loan out Big Phil as he's got the potential to be a quality player - 14 starts last season 7 goals aint bad for a youngster. He should have been young player of the year)

It boils down to keeping either Bellamy or Boj. I think Bellamy offers something different, that being a playstyle of constantly being on the last man and his blinding pace, whilst Boj is abit similar to RSC. I'd like to keep Boj but can't see him being happy getting on the bench every now and then. I reckon Bellamy would be a better impact player than Boj tho.

ST:
Ade
RSC
Bellamy

LF:
Robinho *
Petrov

RF:
Tevez *
SWP

* = Can play upfront aswell
