As much as I disliked the Batman films it gets my interest up when a Superman/Batman film gets mentioned. Now I never read the comics with those two and a couple on here have mentioned that Batman is a bit weary of Superman in case he has a God trip considering his power. But really Superman is a good guy and if Batman wanted to start on him he could just flick his finger and smash Batman through 20 buildings so my point is what the fuck would Batman offer in such a film? He's got fuck all on Superman, they say ooh he a smart detective in his own right. So? He's not got xray vision or super hearing which any detective would die for anyway so he'd just slow Superman down! Could anyone explain what direction the comics took the stories?
Character wise they are very different with opposing philosophy's of light and shade, so a lot of the material evolves around that. However they both respect and value each others strengths. Think along the lines of a couple of brothers of opposite character who fundamentally love and respect each other but fight and bicker on the surface. Only to come together and kick the crap out of some knob head who besmirches the family name.
Tactically; obviously superman has the real superpowers because of that he can tend to tackle things head on sometimes without due thought. Batmans super powers are essentially his money and his sense of devotion and self discipline. He tends to be more tactical thinking things through to be one step ahead of the game. Again opposing philosophies which in the correct situation can compliment each other.
