In a second half in which everyone was mediocre, and some were downright sloppy (John Stones – don't backslide, John!), Bernardo continued to do relatively good things with the ball, and his missed chances should not detract from the tracking back, the running off the ball, the constantly showing for it to give the man with the ball options, and some fine passes from him. Over the ninety minutes, man of the match, although run a close second by Phil.
This has been coming. City's resurgence over the last month or so has coincided with clear signs that Bernardo is gradually playing himself back to his real level. He's not there yet, but he's on that road. If Kev can stay fit, Sergio can get sharp for perhaps one half season of fireworks, and Bernardo gets back to anything like the form of 2017-18, we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Our defence with Eddie is the best in the league at present. Fern is Fern. Walker is Walker. Enough said.
