From a Brighton point of view the three midfielders caused all the problems. Not so much parking the bus but incapable of getting out of our own half. I thought everybody would vote for De Bruyne so I went for Fernandinho who was busy and made the pass for the all important first goal.

Bearing in mind that Brighton are much stronger on their right hand side, Walker had an easy time of it and was quick enough to get back when needed. However, Danilo was a more of a persistent thorn and he was up against better opponents, Bruno the only Albion player who could even compete at the standard set and even though he did not have anything much to do until Sane came on, who attempted to try and get past him at least twice.

Game went as much as expected, although Brighton had more trouble on the ball than I had ever known in 50 years. Full backs made all the difference as Brighton did not have anybody remotely quick enough to cause any trouble on the break. Game went as expected and I thought City would win 0-3 and I was most worried at 0-0 when Brighton had a corner. The idea was to hold out for 70 minutes and then try and open up a bit. Injury mucked up the last bit.

Will Brighton get relegated? More concerned about Burnley getting a bonus three points. Brighton may sign some strikers before the next two games.

How could Man City be improved? A bit more creativity in the midde in the Fernandinho position?
That's a bold statement.

Interesting how two people can watch the same match and feel completely differently about it. I thought Fernandinho was our worst player, bar an excellent cross for the second goal, and that particular game was crying out for Yaya. Not that I don't like Fernandinho, I just like Touré better as a player.

I probably should have said David Silva (key pass), but all three midfielders individually had the ball more than the complete four man Brighton midfield so any of the three could have said to be running the game on their own. Fernandinho not the best player but equal with David Silva the most involved and influential. "Busy" in the original text. I did sort of say seeing he had the ball so much he might have done better with it? (created the offside goal and crossed for the second). Walker must have looked better on the TV. Not that be played badly just that he wasn't facing a winger and he didn't really have much to do (went missing twice, saved by a miss and the second time by Kompany).

Brighton were awfully weak on the left and would have made anybody look good on the right hand side. Guanfran for Atletico caused far more trouble down Brighton's left than Walker, but got caught out going too far forward and that cost them a goal.

Between Walker & KDB IMO.
Walker seems to have been a great purchase. I bet he's glad he's here too. His work rate is brilliant. Hope he can stay injury free.

Walker for me, it was a very solid debut amid the desperation of most of the media's hope that he would fail. I even heard one pundit (can't remember who) saying through gritted teeth "yeah sure he was man of the match but...."

A strange post.

Fernandinho did everything he needed to do.

Pep will not pick Toure because
you " like him better as a player"

Then maybe he'll pick Touré because he doesn't give the ball away five times a game.

The difference in class is enormous, but Fernandinho is far more mobile. Against Brighton we didn't need that mobility so much.

I see fernandinho winning the ball very quickly, high up the pitch. Playing with such an attacking formation you need at least one player who can do that.

Yaya is a superior passer, doesn't win the ball back though.

But to say Fern was the "WORST" player is a bit derogatory to his overall performance.
