"man on"

Another basic ingredient missing is leaving a man on the half way line when we defend a corner. We never ever do it. It's madness. With the ability and speed of Aguero this should be put into practice immediately. It's absolute basic football.

...................throw ins time and time again (which are shite and end up with us defending most times)
I watched a replay of a Bundasleague (sic) game on Saturday. Whenever the ball went out of play for a throw-in the player nearest the ball took the throw-in and he ALWAYS had a minimum of four players to throw to, some close, some a bit further away, but all moving around trying to find space. And nine times out of ten the team taking the throw won the ball.
Contrast that to our game against WBA and our throw-ins were pathetic. A couple of players wandered into positions that were closely marked by the opposing players. And what happened - we lost the ball! We are shit at throws.

It's been happening for as long as I can remember. I've mentioned it quite a lot in the various Pellegrini threads over the last couple of years and I imagine it'll carry on until the last kick of the season. They really are a disgrace considering where we are as a team.

we don't roll about, we don't suddenly go down when want to stop play , we do nothing in the gamesmanship department. I am hoping all that will change next season, we need to grow up, and fast.
I don't want any of this. Football on the continent is not the same sport that we play. All of that shit makes the game worse to watch and actually frustrating to watch. I'd be very very disappointed if City adopted these things.

El Classico has become an unwatchable disgrace to our sport. So have many CL games. They're just stop-start-stop-start-stop games with dive after dive after cynical foul after cynical foul after players pretending to have a broken cheek bone when they get hit in the shoulder after players pretending to have a broken pelvis after being shoulder barged.

It's all an embarrassment to the male gender and makes this sport a joke.

Why can't we be a refreshing chance and actually be a club that succeeds without cheating?

I'd echo these thoughts but in Europe especially, cheating is probably more important in determining certain results than skill or great football is.

It isnt right but its a fact.

The player on the half way line at corners is a bit like the players on the posts 'debate' that comes up every time a ball goes in the near the post from a corner. It's percentages. The number of goals that are scored due to a player not manning the posts is far fewer than those scored by a player being free in the box to score anywhere in the goal. The more players defending the ball in results in less goals than the player kicking it off the line near the post. Similarly it is deemed to be safer to defend the situation with enough players rather than hope to break away and score from that position. It's debatable and different coaches will have different opinions but I am sure the stats can be produced to 'prove' either works best.

the player on the half way line though would take a defender with him hence levelling it out in the box. as regards the player being aguero he could not be able to do much against a six foot defender in our box. however if the ball is lobbed forward the said defender would never catch kun in a million years, may even foul him and receive a red card. its a no brainer for me.

those saying we shouldn't " cheat" need to wise up, we do and will again suffer from this so if you can't beat them join them. we don't want to, in fact hate it but if we had stronger unbiased refs we wouldn't have to.

Isn't it fucking obvious? Not only yes to that but yes to a myriad of other things they still do wrong after three years with that buffoon in charge.

Just Wow. You really do believe what you have wrote and think it is the managers job to instill into them to shout man on when a team mate is being approached. You'll be expecting him to make sure they dress correctly and tape their socks on properly to prevent ankle tap injuries.

Anyway, fair dos if that's your belief

It's not about cheating it's game management,we just keep attacking instead of managing the game and that is the directions from mp,i will put money on pep changing it.Going down when fouled is something we should do more of but not making up contact and all that shit

You don't get it do you. I'd expect the players to know what to do but if evidence suggests they don't then I'd expect the person that's their boss to step in an correct the errors.

I've no clue why you think that's a strange expectation. There's not a chance Pep leaves such things to chance, fails to notice for three years or notices and thinks "fuck it, that's not my job"

I agree we do seem to have a game management issue at times but to suggest that International players with many years experience in the game dont do it right because of Pellegrini is frankly ridiculous and sounds like an excuse for yet another thread bashing the manager.

Sometimes, its not too much to expect the players to switch on and use their brains.
Or our fans for that matter.
