Nobody knows what Pep will do but I think he will use last week's team except for Walker
Ederson
Walker Dias, Stones Mendy
Rodrigo
De Bruyne Gundogan
Mahrez Jesus Sterling

I’d say the team picks itself, bar left back which could be now any of Mendy, Cancelo or Ake.

Eddie

Walker
Ruben
Stones
x

Rodders
Gundo
Kev

Mahrez
Jesus
Sterling
Has to be Cancelo for me. Mendy more likely to concede silly fouls 1v1 against their pace up front and I didn’t think Ake was great tonight. First game back after injury so I’m not putting too much on this performance, just wouldn’t start him there again next game.
Think subs tonight make it obvious that Gundogan, Sterling and Mahrez all start.
Ederson, Walker, Stones, Dias, Cancelo, Rodri, KDB, Gundogan, Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus

I dont want to put too much extra pressure on a derby, but I really think our season is at a tipping point right now.

We have West Brom, Southampton, Newcastle, a terrible Arsenal side and Everton on the slide to close out the year.

Win this weekend and I think we could go on a real run in those games and we'll end 2020 right at the top of the league, in a cup final, CL last 16 everything going swimmingly and real momentum behind us.

Lose and it feels like we could be in for another stop-start season where we almost get going but then fail and have to start over again.
Was speaking to a mate the other week and we agreed we can't see this City side string 8 or 9 league wins on the bounce, but if we can beat the rags it does open up the chances of a real good run. Any top team that can go on that sort of run will be thereabouts.

Totally this. Win this, and Spurs and Liverpool drop points to one another, and we go into what will be a very messy Christmas schedule for all sides neck and neck with a load of teams, despite having our worst start to a season in a decade. Given how dodgy things looked a few months ago, and it really feels like the most important derby for a while.

The definates I think are
Ederson Dias
Rodri Dr bruyne
Sterling Jesus

So what do we think

Cancelo/walker
Stones/laporte
Mendy/cancelo
Gundog/Silva
Mahrez/Torres

I think walker gundog mahrez will play the other 2 positions hard to say I would go mendy and laporte by the slimmest of margins

There’s nothing like upping the stakes pre-derby! Agree with every word.

Could he surprise us all and go 5 at the back with Mendy left,Cancelo right back and Walker right centre half to give us that needed extra shot of pace to deal with the counter launches down the middle?

It would be more pragmatic but could work well with Rodri and Gundo at the base, Kev in front and two of Sterling/Jesus/Torres/ Mahrez starting up top?

They will be well up for it as it is now their Cup Final
Any game against us
I'm not expecting a win
And of course they'll get one penno at least

Guardiola has just ruled out Aguero starting, unsurprisingly.
yeah i dont get why he does that...he has just told utd his front line pretty much with that

Whether Aguero should start or not is one debate.......but dont tell them before the game.

For me Aguero should always start if he is fit.....Id play Aguero in the centre...jesus on the left and Sterling on the right.....

But clearly he isnt going to do that.

Tbf, even if he hadn’t ruled him out then you, I, and most City fans would’ve known there was zero chance of him starting on Saturday. For all Solsjkaer’s deficiencies, I doubt even he thought Aguero would be in our starting XI at the weekend.

I know what you are getting at but dont do the job for them....leave them witht he slightest doubt till the last minute....he scored tongiht and Pep could have just said....we will see or something like that.

Personally Id play both jesus and Aguero..

Just got a horrible feeling that Pep will revert to his line ups with both Gundogan and Rodri,...with the way we play with those two we need someone clinical up front....and we just dont have that when Kun isnt playing.

I was staggered that he actually said that, but as sure as eggs are eggs , his opinion would be entirely different had it been against us.
He had to be pushed though. He initially just said that “yes the referee has pointed to the spot and has given a penalty“. Thanks Pete for that insight. He had to be then asked “yes but what’s your opinion on it. “

The only major twists I can see coming are no Walker (Cancelo and Mendy start), Aguero ahead of Jesus, or Sterling on the bench. But I do think the former two are unlikely; Walker is a main stay and Aguero may not be fit enough. However with Sterling I'm on the fence about what'll happen.
Sterling is usually woeful against them but he seems to have got his goalscoring Mojo back so maybe one last chance. He finally got the Liverpool monkey off his back so perhaps he will do likewise on Saturday.
However, performances like he has turned in against these lot in the past cannot be tolerated and I hope Pep has the balls to take him off if he bottles it again
