John Terry, The way he's transformed Chelsea since AVB left
exiled-blue said:Whats with the Pardew love in. Yes he has done really well at Newcastle considering where a lot of people thought they would be. BUT they are in with a chance of the CL spot because the normal teams you expect be to challenging (Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool ) have either been shit all season, or shit in large parts of it. In most other seasons Newcastle would have been looking 7th or 8th, so a lot of their position is down to others being shit. Just my opinion.

Actually, 2nd place last year got 71 points, Arsenal in 3rd already have 65 with 3 games left, Newcastle in 4th have 62 with 4 games left, already equalling Spurs's 5th place total for last season, Chelsea in 6th have 58 with 4 games left, equalling Liverpool's 6th place total for last season.
Arsenal are only 3pts away from last season's total with 3 games left, Spurs 3pts off there's with 4 games left, Chelsea 13 pts off there's with 4 games left, so only them out of the 3 have really declined this season in the league, Arsenal's 1st team has, but they still used to collapse every year come March, the only difference is that this season they did it the other way around.
By contrast Newcastle are 16pts better off on last season with 4 games to go. The average Premier League points total for 4th place in a 38 game season is 67.25, so Newcastle are only 5 points off that with 4 games to go. Pardew deserves all the credit he can get.
