United 5
City 2
Liverpool 1
wigan 1
brum 1

over last 10 years

chelsea 10 (11 if they win europa)
united 10
liverpool 3
city 2

Chelsea would gave done a whole lot better if they didnt sack the manager at the first sign of the players downing tools.

major trophies fella, not glorified friendlies

It is a myth yes.

People look to utd whereas they WERE the exeption to; not the rule.

However the appeal of stability and familiarity that breeds a close knit community feeling knits in with this ideal.
However most stagnate (see: Arsenal) and the sudden change in the landscape of the game as a whole make such a proposition harder to effect now.

It would take a billionaire owner with a genuine boyhood love of the club and no vested interest beyond the long term future of the club at heart in today's game.
That would allow a pressure free environment for the manager to an extent to build from fruit to seed many times over creating what utd had for so long.

tl;dr it is best but don't look to fergie lengths of rule as some sort of measure, much shorter now.

Evidently Bayern Mjnich change their coach every 2 years on average and it doesn't seem to hurt them.

Anyway our set up is different now. We are operating the continental system with a Director of Football and so the philosophy should remain the same

Maybe , maybe not.

I think they have done well trophy wise with the managers they have had.

JM had gone as far as he could go without upsetting the apple card anymore than he does at every club eventually.

We don't want to be doing the same that is for sure but the owners have now set a clear precedent for the next manager and he won't last as long as RM did if he fails in his objectives which must be at least the same as they were with RM.

The pressure on our Barca duo will intensify now as well.

Stability to an extent, however being able to motivate players and having a good team (which on paper we have the best in the league) is the key to winning. Something started to go wrong for Bobby about 18 months ago with ours and he managed to gee them up for a short while with a combination of good luck (Scum dropping points) and hard work which resulted in us winning the league. This last 12 months seems like a result of his alleged poor man management skills. Too many key players not performing (Hart, Yaya, Silva, Aguero) Therefore a new man who can gee this quality team we have should be challenging for honours in a short space of time. Like Rafa at the Chavs, but please god no, not him!

Always thought when MANUre won this it was a major trophy, when they lost it reverted to being a glorified friendly!

Managerial stability does not exist anymore and the reds will realise that when Moyes has a few bad results.

It's yet another rag myth.
