Manc bands that never got the acclaim they deserved

I'd argue Beecher actually did very well by not allowing the scene to hold them back. Their first album was released by Earache to much critical acclaim. It's just a shame they decided to call it a day as soon as they did.

The unsigned scene in 2000 onwards produced a couple of good bands who never quite got there. Moco were phenomenal live band whose performances were legendary and Tsuji Giri's album produced by Steve Albini was top notch.

Didn't know he was a Blue, if he's playing anywhere local let us know.

Mate (not in a gay way) but can we get married ;-)

I can't I am betrothed to David Silva.....but if it falls through.... ;-)

Do you recall Rox? Not a classic band, but drummer Billy Beaman was a mate (and another big Blue) from Phoenix days.

The names familiar but if i'm honest that might be down to the name just being a very metal sounding word in many ways. I can't honsetly say I remember them. Where were they from? I used to go in the Phoenix on a Sunday night.

Think they may have been more Macc lads...? Or was that Silverwing? Know they supported Silverwing a few times. Very glammy.

The Phoenix was great on a Sunday......American Rock Night. (There is a dedicated Facebook page for the Phoenix I set up by the way. And one for UMIST too) Lot of old faces on there....check it out.

Honestly I was going to say were they a glam/rock band? Maybe I do remember them or the name just conjours up that image. I've been meaning to check the UMIST one so I will have to get the wife to look. Ive still got that UMIST invite here for you. Will try and scan it midweej and get it over to you.

I remember Rox: I met them when they supported Silverwing, who were from Macc. Was it Rox whose singer called himself Kick-Ass Kev?
