Manchester Airport police assault trial | Man found guilty of assaulting two female police officers

Looking at what's currently going on in Epping, if this happens then God help us.
I can't understand why it's taking so long. It's all on video, they can't deny what they did, it should've been done and dusted in the time it takes to show the video
This is all about their lawyer trying to make a name for himself
Seriously, there is no conspiracy here. Trials tend to take longer when the accused plead not guilty. You could have all the evidence in the world against someone but it still won’t get “done and dusted” in the time it takes to show a video.

I’ll also add that there was more than one incident so that will add to the time as well.

Firearms officers are trained to a much higher level than response officers.

Officers are given UDT (unarmed defensive tactics) like pressure points and knee strikes-but when it unravels its very hard to use-mainly because in real life people don't stand still while you work out your move. UDT training is once or twice a year typically.

But expecting all frontline officers to be black belt in any fighting discipline is completely unrealistic-for starters most could never reach that level of attainment, so it would rule out most people-and what happens when they reach their forties for example and can't do it? do you just sack them off? But also the cost of training and refreshing would be astronomical. No amount of training would still prepare you for dealing with extreme violence (such as here) and coked up or violently deranged individuals intent on causing harm. Or those with knives. Part of the training for dealing with knives is actually to run away..because once you close the reactionary gap, you will get hurt.

Personally I think the officers were incredibly brave in this incident. It would have been terrifying.

I think every officer willing to engage in a physical altercation should be trained higher, yes, otherwise the others should just get a desk job or track from a 'safe' distance.

If the country can spend money on weapons for other countries, it can spend money protecting its own. Raise the taxes, if necessary; there's already less visible police on the streets. I don't want my money going to foreign wars, but despite my reticence with cops and what I've seen in my youth, they would get my support on training today.

Once or twice a year training is not enough. Be ready for any eventuality than not, in my opinion, notwithstanding armed perps as I said before.

What? How the fuck is describing someone as a student gonna elicit simpathee?

Him being a student has no bearing on this case, if say Tommy Robinson was in court and they started with Tommy is a student and likes to work for charity you'd say the same thing.

The wording at the start of the BBC is just that, it's to try to make this **** look normal when he is anything but.

Name. age. occupation. Standard journalistic practice.
And i'm gonna guess 'students' are another group of people u would deride, so, once again, how the fuck is it supposed to elicit simpathee?

Led with it, they knew what they were doing. When you learn to read you'll manage to understand I wasn't deriding students I was deriding the **** claiming to be one.

I expected you to get all gooey eyes when the truth hit you, never mind it'll all soon be over.

You're right about the training-but whilst training officers aren't doing their core roles so its a logistical problem fitting extra training days in as it is already-but sure extra training would be welcome.

As for cops not up to it-it becomes an expensive officer sat just doing admin tasks that can be done more cheaply by non warranted staff.

The issue is staffing -so for that to increase you need to increase the pay (that the tories shredded during austerity) in oredr to attract older more experienced people-and that would cost-I'm not sure the public would be so supportive of more tax.

the bullshit level of these pair of cunts gets cranked up higher every day, they must really be trying everyones patience by now, the judge must be tearing his wig out

I have the exact opposite take on it. They are inviting people to roll their eyes and think, 'yeah, course hes a student' in the way that people have done. The subtlety has been missed. I think anyway

Step in ChatGPT.

I made this comment somewhat tongue in cheek but actually I can envisage a time in the future where this could be the way forward.

It already has consummate legal knowledge. There's perhaps not much more capability needed for it to be able to hear all the evidence and come up with a verdict, and a sentence. Perhaps it has some in built biases from its training data, but honestly even without ironing that out, it seems much less biased to me than people are, already.
Magistrate: Smith, you have been found guilty…..
Clerk: (Stage whisper) We are supposed to hear the evidence first…..
Mag: Oh sorry, pressed the button too soon.

They (the BBC) have turned into a truly revolting organisation haven't they. They get on the wrong side of the argument every fucking time. I can't bear to listen to them with their constant political preaching. And if you complain they just write back and tell you (in terms) to fuck off. 1 complaint in every 600 million is upheld. Shameful.

I would disband them immediately and save us all a fortune.

Mrs Brown's boys FFS.
That's just it they shouldn't be taking a side.

So he fought/attacked the police because he didn't know they were the police and because he was afraid the police , who he didn't recognize as police, would beat him to death while he was laying on the ground. He has great respect for the police since he has a number of family members who are police but he fears that they all want to beat him to death randomly.

How can he say he didn't recognise the police?

What did he think the police uniforms were, fancy dress?
I don't think he's really helping his defence.
