Personally I think Jury’s should be scrapped.

The idea that decisions on lawful or unlawful actions should be decided on by people who aren’t experts in law (or even have no idea what the law is around the intricacies of the case they’re on) does seem like a silly idea on the basis of it.

Pity about that cop giving a real head kicking and stamping to the perp on film. I know that there was very serious previous violence used against the 2 WPCs and it all kicked off in a very short time. Further retribution of that sort should have been made in the back of the police van or in the cells afterwards with no incriminating evidence. As matters stand the crims will probably not get the full maximum sentence they deserved. Also it 's amazing that of the assailant's close family members no fewer than 6 were present or past members of Greater Manchester Police.

You're forgetting the trouble they caused in other areas of the airport, and allegedly on the plane.

When my mate had his nose broken in a robbery 20 years back, the guy got 25 weeks inside.

Hopefully the judge deems the first assault as serious.

Your lovable old fashioned rogue might still exist. But they’re a tiny minority of the prison population these days.

Sorry but that was twenty years ago in a very unique situation where the country and the capital was on high alert. Almost a one off situation that is so far removed from what happened at the airport.

Those officer s were working long long hours and under an immense amount of pressure and fucked up royally.
