Manchester Airport police assault trial | Man found guilty of assaulting two female police officers

Does anybody have an idea as to when the guilty one will be sentenced ??
Is he actually in custody at the moment,or will he be called back to the court when his sentence is delivered by the judge ??

I think they'll sentence him after he finishes helping his mum look after his grandad and his shift at the Dogs home and local hospice is over.

He's a good lad and should only bet community service.

He’s in custody at the moment, with a hearing on Thursday to decide whether he can be bailed until the sentencing.

That hearing will be scheduled after the judge has the pre-sentencing reports, which happens in all Crown Court trials.

Cheers pal, thanks for clarifying that for me,much appreciated.

Apologies for going off topic but not sure if this is the best place to post this ;)

Basically a police officer is being investigated for leaking CCTV footage to the MEN. When I first heard about this last night, it sounded like it was to do with the first truncated clip that we all saw, but upon reading the full article it seems it's the subsequent, longer, video that gave far greater context. I'm not sure about the reasons for investigating him but it could be possible contempt of court and jeopardising the trial I suppose.

Is a weird one. I'm sure some technical laws were broken but is it really in the public interest to prosecute this?

A bail application for Amaaz, who was remanded in custody after the verdicts were returned, was adjourned until 26 August.

Funnily enough, I've seen a single mention of this considering it was today. Are they hoping it will stay under the radar and he'll be walking the streets later.

I bet he does a runner if he gets out.

In the current climate, it could royally kick off if he's back walking the streets.

This is true.
Yet, if the man who drove in to the crowd in Liverpool was released, he would likely get sympathy, as he has done in the press.
The difference is, very unfortunately, clear.

A totally different case.
Yes. You are correct.

The point I make stands. If an Asian man drove the car into the crowd there would have been a very different media and public response.
We absolutely know it to be true.

In terms of the airport attack.
Based on the footage of the airport violence I saw, and assuming that is the basis of the evidence, then the attack committed against the police officer warrants a significant sentence.
I also saw extreme violence committed by the male police officer and believe that needs sanctioning too.

A quick question. Have you ever been attacked and seen your friends/colleagues attacked ?
If so what was your reaction in the seconds, not minutes, seconds after that?
Shock, stress and perceived fear play a huge part in anybodys reaction immediately after a violent assault. No amount of training will stop those 3 emotions.
And just to answer another comment you made. The Liverpool bloke has been remanded in custody for his own safety.

What an over reaction!! Extreme violence from the male police officer is not what was seen on the video. It was a effort to subdue a very violent attacker who had punched 2 of his colleagues in the face and, for all the officer knew, was trying to get hold of his pistol.
I have had worse than this on a Saturday night at Bootle street nick!! I probably deserved it though!!
