In the boozer last night, a Baggies fan was talking about Tony Brown and what a top goal scoring midfielder he was.
He said he was from Manchester,furthermore Len Cantello was from Manchester and I maybe wrong but I'm fairly sure neither of them played for either us or that lot.
In those days 60's and 70's I thought that our scouts would have had the pick of the local talent and had the best ones boxed off,I know the reds prefered to haunt Scotland and Ulster and apart from Kiddo,and Carlo Sartori,Mancs were very thin on the ground.
John Sheridan of Leeds,Wednesday and Oldham also springs to mind as does Wythenshaw lad made good John (Budgie)Byrne of QPR.

Sheridan was on City's books but released in 1981 when he joined Leeds.

The goals all came in one half, I'm certain of that - it was at the opposite end to where the City fans were located. I also recall it was raining quite heavily. It was a great atmosphere that day - a real air of expectancy - we were all convinced we'd be out of that division by the end of the season and we were correct!

I'd wager a pint that it was only two goals that Bradbury (as he was then known) got, but no more. I'm 60/40 that I'm correct. I'm not always right Pige, believe it or not ;-)

My first reaction was Bradbury scored 2 in the Burnley pre-season game.

Wigan, Bolton & Oldham were all in Greater Manchester last time I looked.
I get where you're coming from though, if meet people from these towns when abroad these people would say they're from the town then near Manchester whereas people from Stockport, Cheadle, Stalybridge, Ashton-U-Lyne tend to say Manchester 1st then the town 2nd

Peter Crouch is from Macc , where does that put him.

In East Cheshire! Should I forgive you as it has a Stockport postcode?? No, because Buxton does too.

Greater Manchester County does not exist Greater Mancland is Manchester with all the bits of other Boroughs which used to be in it - like the Stockport Heatons - and aren't now
