Hope you don't mind me borrowing your thread Mcfcstu, but I can't post.
I am also in Manchester City Centre for a conference next week, but staying over in between
Oldham and Ashton. Does anybody know if there is a park and ride near the Oldham end of the new Metro link I could leave the car at instead of driving into the City Centre and having to pay to park.
Never used the Metro before ----- roughly what time are the last Trams?
The trams aren't running up to Oldham yet mate. Lots of cheap parking near town, all day £2 at the bottom of Rochdale road facing the old Collyhurst Police station.

Loads of great places to eat in Manchester, try Australasia or <a class="postlink" href="http://www.relaisdevenise.com/manchester/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.relaisdevenise.com/manchester/</a> if you like steak and chips.
Trams started running from Oldham last Wednesday mate, and I believe there is a big park and ride at mumps, costs about £3.80 for a return off peak.
Thanks mate.
Will try that then.

I know it's not the City centre (so apologies for taking it off topic) but the amount of Restaurants now in Chorlton is unreal. I think almost every taste is catered for. Another new place has opened up just down from the leisure center that looks very, very impressive and was packed when I went to the cash machine earlier.

Jamie Olivers place on King Street is smart - busy, good atmosphere, good food, not too pricey.

Definitely the Marble Arch in Rochdale Street - proper food, home-brewed beers and a real pub (good jukebox). For price and healthy curries, you can't beat This & That on Back Turner St (near High St).

Am visiting Buenos Aires at Christmas so will make the comparison before I make disparaging comment about Carlos.

Best food ive had in town was at The Northern Quarter Restaurant. Not the cheapest place but you will not regret it, the lamb i had there was unreal. Every meal i have had since has been shit in comparison

Like the look of this so will give it a go based on your recomendation. I like Harpers on South King Street and Evuna on Deansgate.

Rosso, Camelgobs place has just been slaughtered on Manchester Confidential, never been (not likely too either!) but I have heard bad reports even from rags..
