For years, the greatest era was always behind us.
I never had much of a problem with that, it's the case for most clubs.

Part of me still has a sentimental attachment that wants to keep saying "back then".

But the truth is, and we are incredibly lucky.... we are living through our greatest era right now.

This is not the voice of a young fan who might easily be persuaded the here and now is 'best' by default. It's the stark and yet spine tingling realisation that it's the truth. It has never been as great as now. Our European success included.

a european pot of any kind will cement the era that is now as City's greatest

though winning the ECWC in 1970 was only achieved as follows:-

1st   Athletic Bilbao       6–3 (3–3 away; 3–0 home)
2nd   Lierse S.K.           8–0 (3–0 away; 5–0 home)
QF    Académica de Coimbra  1–0 (0–0 away; 1–0 home)
SF    Schalke 04	         5–2 (0–1 away; 5–1 home)
Final Górnik Zabrze         2-1

A mere 9 games! Compare this with the fact we played eight in the CL last season which included 2 against Bayern and 2 against Barca
