He was perhaps given the jersey a bit too soon and made some daft mistakes in televised matches which made him a figure of fun for a while.He was terrible everyone I knew used to call him Big Daft Joe
I’m sure I’m right that we sent him for extra coaching with Harry Gregg when he was at Shrewsbury or maybe Crewe
City brought in Keith Macrae to challenge or replace him and Joe upped his game proving that sometimes you have to give a player a bit of patience and you will be rewarded eventually.
