Balo has tried to be clever and the worst part of it is that his attempted trick hasn't worked. That makes him look like a wanker. Had he scored, fair enough, but he didn't.
What got the commentators wound up (and he's a disgrace to the universe according to the pundit!) was that it was disrespectful to the Galaxy and I agree.
Now here's the rub, normally, Mancini would perhaps have had a word at half time and left him on, but there was an obvious adverse reaction to that incident and Mancini was looking at the bigger picture. City's pre season tour isn't about playing meaningless pre season friendlies, it's about creating good public relations, support for City stateside and helping out others less fortunate by all these initiatives we see the club doing. Winning hearts and minds, as politicians sometimes say. Now, in the context of all that, I thought Mancini did the right thing in judging public opinion straight off, and being seen to do something about the incident which might have offended our hosts. Looking at it from that perspective, I think Mancini had no option. But by the same token, I hardly think that privately, he will lose too much sleep about it. That's my take on it anyway.
