Liverpool striker Luis Suarez claims that people misinterpreted an incident in February when he appeared to refuse Patrice Evra's handshake, and says Manchester controls the "politics" of football.

Suarez was banned for eight matches last season after being found guilty of racially abusing the Manchester United defender during a Premier League match.

Presuming he means The Rags when referring to "Manchester"
And this is a high profile player speaking out here about something we, the fans, have known for so long - The Rags dictate, and due to their superiority in attracting global audiences, get preferential coverage.

The video with English interpretation is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18883521

Ferguson through his comments and the fact the press are that far up his arse they tickle his tonsils does influence the refs and they do get the decisions going their way. As Rafa would say FACT. (Aguerooooooooooo - and he then challenged how we had 2 mins longer and didn't he call for all games to finish at same time).

Suarez is right. It amazes me that more people don't question the influence of United, especially other clubs. How is it right or proper for their executive David Gill to be on the FA Board when no-one from City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham etc are? Scudamore, who represents the Premier League should be on it (he is), but anyone working for any of the 20 EPL clubs should not, on grounds of conflict of interests.

Everyone moans on about UEFA and FIFA but we need to sort the FA out first. They are just as shady.

Rafa Benitez is the only other manager to question Ferguson and his influence, maybe it's just a coincidence he can't get another job in England since leaving Liverpool, or maybe it's not!!

I would like to see our club and others taking a more active and assertive role in the politics of football, both domestically and in Europe, to exert our influence like United, Bayern, Barca, Madrid etc do. This is what highly paid executives should be doing.

Re: Manchester controls the "politics" of football

God I wish this had come from a players mouth who isn't such a despicable cheating prick.

suarez said united control the politics in england , in his interview , he directly mentioned manchester united , that is so unseen in modern football for a player to directly point a finger
Not defending him , but that requires a lot of guts there , and its so true

And this interview is a good thing? Yet again refusing to accept any responsibility for his own actions by saying "people at Liverpool" think he was only banned because Utd control the politics of football and wanted to stop Liverpool - stop them from doing what I'm not too sure??!!

Nothing to do with his own racist behaviour then....He also says in this interview that it wasn't his fault he didn't shake Evra's hand and all the tv companies (apart from in Uruguay) stitched him up by showing the incident from an angle that makes it look like he's ignoring Evra.

So he also refuses to accept any responsibility for his actions making Dalglish look a twat!!

He's the perfect match for Liverpool (it wasn't us/it was the Chelsea fans/the world's against us) Football Club. Whatever you think about Utd, and their possible influence over the English football establishment, Suarez is a twat and got what he deserved in the Evra case..

-- Wed Jul 18, 2012 7:51 pm --

Nearly as much guts as saying sorry, I made a mistake and didn't mean to cause offence - let's shake hands and move on?

I really don't see trying to deflect attention from your own actions as courageous in any way.

Wanker.

Suarez and Liverpool still refuse to accept any responsibility for their own actions.

It has nothing to do with Man United, it has everything to do with Suarez, what he said and how Liverpool reacted to it.

Stain on the game the lot of them.
