Manchester Evening News

Remember the good old days, City were covered by Eric Thornton, then Peter Gardner and Paul Hince..lol.

The rags by David Meek

Once had a go at Gardner about his lack of enthusiasm about City. Replied he was a Football writer not a City supporter. His team in fact was Blackpool. A Donkey Lasher!!!!!

Peter Gardner was my favourite, wonder where he is now.

Hince was obviously a blue through and through but his articles weren't great and he never seemed like a proper journalist although he's like Tolstoy compared to the half wits there now.

I know Hince was a blue but as I recall it growing up, we had Gardner & Hince covered Oldham, no?
Correct, Hince then took over when Gardner 'retired' (Kendall wouldn't have anything to do with him, kicked him off the team bus.)
Bryan Brett took over from Hince and then some young lad, couldn't have been 30, took over for a year before going to 5 Live. Then Chris Bailey and Stuart the rag who remains.

Yes that's how it was. Meanwhile at Piccadilly radio we had Brian Clarke and Utd had Tom Tyrell they shared the derby game commentary. Good days

I remember Hince being on Radio Manchester phone-in after another Swales cock-up. He came across as propper odd. Hince steadfastly defended Swales and told Blues they were not really City fans if they wanted Swales gone.

Off topic abit but looking back that pedo Stuart hall used to always cover our games on radio 5 live don’t know if he worked for a paper though
