Even by their standards, this is a staggeringly poor article:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-citys-failure-regularly-fill-6674975" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... ll-6674975</a>

The Chelsea game was sold out.

Those empty seats were presumably season ticket holders who couldn't make the game (probably kids given that it was an evening midweek game).

That is stunning in it's ignorance. Really, I'm actually stunned that this is printed in a newspaper.

I see the idea of quality control has just disappeared from the MEN

the individual seats they have picked out and circled in red could just be people who have gone for a piss, its not swathes as they seem to think but one or two here ore there. Bandwagon journalism

I cannot fucking believe I have just read an article by a dorky looking teenager in my local paper where he has drawn rings around half a dozen "Empty" seats for a game which has been sold out for weeks and weeks. Now I've constistently defended the MEN as just a plodding local paper running trite positive stories, but that one is utterly laughable. The type of thing some clueless and biased blogger would write and get 32 views.

Pathetic. Laughable.

The headline could read 'Photos of the stadium showing when some supporters were having a piss, or absent through holidays/sickness'

Am i right in thinking that they have put up a picture of a part of the stand that has 6 or 7 empty seats in it.

I'm just going to throw it out there, and I know it might sound a bit left-field, but could it be that perhaps one or two had nipped for a slash or up to the bar?

Christ how do they even get the go-ahead to write this garbage.

He's actually defending it.

I cannot believe that that is an article in a paper like the MEN

So 500 odd seats scattered around the stadium becomes 'swathes'. The idiot who wrote that garbage needs to invest in a simple Oxford School Dictionary!

Even with a 'full house' there will be gaps. There are endless reasons why fans cannot make a particular game played at 8pm on a Weekday.

Just part and parcel of the Agenda and another example of puffed-up Raggery.
