Manchester Exchange Station?

I have zero recollection of Exchange Station. Looking at it, and on maps, am I right that it was physically in Salford, not Manc?

The approach Road was on the left (heading north up Deansgate towards Strangeways) just before or opposite the cathedral and I think the approach road crossed the Irwell
opposite the Cathedral....bridge approach spanned Irwell. Pips on Fennel Street ha

Taxis (black cabs) parked on bridge I think

I'm the same with Mayfield.
Mayfield closed in about 1960. As a little kid, I was on it once. You know that footbridge to platforms 13 & 14? It used to extend across the main road and into Mayfield station. Quite a trek from the main concourse of Piccadilly - or London Road as it was then.

For many years after that it was used for parcels and mail, and there was a massive fuck off footbridge right across Piccadilly station throat to some facility on the north side. I don't know the details, not being a postman.

That's two years before I was born, for fuck's sake.
:-(

So; Mayfield was across London Road from the main London Road station, was it?
