Central Library
the old Boddingtons brewery tower
the midland, the palace
the working for a nuclear free city sign for sure
I really like the old (v early 1900s I think) council housing block on Oldham Road, the first purpose built social housing in the city. But it's probably not famous or recognisable enough to be an 'icon'

and that map is obviously in Victoria, I knew that.

-- Tue Jan 24, 2012 5:07 pm --

love the bee too, and the city of manchester badge of arms. And what about the murals in the main room of the town hall.

I drive past Strangeways on that road outside on a daily basis and everytime I see the building, this is when I feel like I've arrived in Manchester.

John Rylands Library. Spent many lunchtimes walking around there. It's a thing of beauty.

A statue of Abraham Lincoln in recognition of Manchesters support for the Emancipation Proclamation during the American Civil war. Manchester suffered huge hardship due to the cotton blockade of the Confederacy but the support remained firm.

Liverpool supported the confederacy and ran the blockades in support of the south
