Manchester Masters

Not a bad side either
David James
Nedum Onhuha
Kevin Horlock
SWP
Martin Petrov
Ishmael Miller
Michael Brown

Highlight apart from winning was watching Michael Brown wind up David James about his split loyalties - James nearly went under
Easily the best of the 4 sides, on paper anyway. Not surprised we won it.

I went to one in 2009/10 ish. Pretty sure we didn't it but I remember we beat United 4-3. Summerbee, Simmo and Brightwell played for us (99% sure). Carl Griffiths, potentially! Rest is a bit hazy....

Masters Football and general football community programs have positive impacts through charity partnerships, community engagement, and promoting health and well-being. These initiatives involve coaching local children, supporting local charities, creating accessible events, and running programs that help with physical and mental health, skill development, and social inclusion for various age groups

Community positives
  • Direct engagement: Masters Football involves direct engagement with local communities through events, coaching local children, and visiting charities, orphanages, and hospitals.
  • Inclusivity: These events and programs aim to be inclusive, for example, by inviting less privileged members of the community to watch matches or using new technology to make matches accessible to fans with hearing impairments, as seen in the Unsilence The Crowd campaign.
  • Social and Skill development: Football provides a platform for skill development, social interaction, and fostering a sense of community, which can help young individuals engage positively in their neighborhoods, notes University of Southern California.
  • Strengthening connections: Programs like those supported by the Premier League strengthen connections between clubs, fans, and their local communities.

Charity and health positives
  • Partnerships: Football organizations and teams partner with various charities, such as the Alzheimer's Society and Andy's Man Club to support their work.
  • Health and well-being: Grassroots football participation has been linked to significant improvements in both physical and mental health, and initiatives are in place to address health inequalities. Examples include programs offering recreational football and peer support for adults experiencing mental health concerns.
  • Accessibility to support: Partnerships ensure that fans, players, and staff can access vital support for specific conditions. For instance, the partnership with the Alzheimer's Society helps people living with dementia and their families, as mentioned by the BBC.
  • Wider impact: The positive impact extends beyond direct participation, such as when events boost local economies by attracting spectators who spend money on accommodation and other services, according to UK Sport.
