Manchester Pubs .....fave and worst.

I was at University in Manchester in the mid-eighties. Best was an appalling flea pit called The Coach & Horses opposite the Piccadilly station ramp. The Lass O Gowrie was popular and brewed its own stuff, IIRC. The Old Garrett opposite the Cyprus Tavern too, interesting. Then there was a pub with a tiny bar fit for 3 people...The Circus? Maybe on Whitworth Street, I dunno. I forget.

Circus is till going. Portland Street. Three At the bar is optimistic. My mate had The Old Garrett late eighties. The Coach and Horses. Forgotten about that!!

Cheetham Hill Road.? My first local pub, great place. Special mentions for The Appleford, The Cavalier and The Tanners.
I remember the one on CHR but the one I was thinking of is a converted public toilet at the end of Great Bridgewater Street just off Oxford Road.

Didn't it bizarrely close a few years ago and briefly open up as a carvery? Back to being a shithole booze now!
Not sure mate, I know they were doing pub grub type food, since it changed to the Wendover. As far as I know though it's always been a pub.

The Top Cat Tavern was certainly a contender for worst, old train seats fastened to the floor provided the seating.
