Manchester's 20 ''Star Walk Of Fame'' Revealed

Alan Turing not number 1?

1,2 and 3 should be Turing, Pankhurst and Lowry in that order.

Neither Bez nor Shaun Ryder deserve 6th but Ryder was the talented one.

Turin was born in Maida Vale, he isn't a Manc, he just died here. Whitworth is the one people should be getting upset about it.

Several people on that list weren't Manchester born, he spent a good few years here.

Maxine Peake is from Bolton ffs. If They might as well as put Peter fucking Kay on the list. If they're going just out of town for people then the absence of Joseph Whitworth is a fucking disgrace. Not just the greatest ever Manc, but one of the greatest ever Britons.
Jeebus fucking wept. That **** from New Order and some tart from Bolton, but no room for one of the greatest engineers the country has ever seen.

Whitworth was born in Stockport if you're going to be pedantic.

Then Whitworh, who gave the world standardisation and in turn mass production, should be No fucking 1. He was born in Stockport and as every rag will tell you, that's where we're all from. He was an engineering god and immortalised not only by the Whitworth street in town, or the Whitworth gallery, but by the greatest quote in military history.
The last words of General John Sedgwick of the Union army in the American civil war. Confederate snipers were armed with guns made by Whitworth and when he was asked to take cover, he replied "They couldn't hit an elephant from that dista..........."

Maxine Peake is a celebrated actress tbf both screen and stage from dinner ladies to hamlet.

Wheres Mark E Smith ?

It's more of a greater manc thing by the look of it as
That ginger twat scholes is from middleton
Morissey and wilson are stretford and salford, ian browns not a manc neither is LS lowry, Danny Boyle and some of the rest
Look, Morrissey was born in Davyhulme (now Trafford) hospital..... everybody knows that.... but after one day and for the next 10 years of his life he lived in Hulme..... then Stretford. He's a Manc.

Are you perchance referring to 5/8's Whitworth?

How about A.V. Roe, James Joule, Karl Marx...?

The Duke of Bridgewater?

Oh, and my uncle Albert, he had a place named after him on Peter Street, I remember it well, 'Albert Hall'
