Manchester's 80's bands 1986 - 1989

Fantastic time to be in Manchester.

I left Manchester Uni in 86, started work and still managed to see an average of 3 gigs a week.

Don't forget New Fast Automatic Daffodils as wll you came through in the last 80's.

I lived in Hulme and in every Cresent there was more than 1 band.

Music was everywhere including 'clubs' like The Kitchen.

There were so many great American bands in that period too plus the transiton of Reggae to Dancehall.

Everynight we would either go to The Ritz or Hac or watch a gig at these Venues or the Boadlwak or Int 1 and 2.

I was 18 in 86 and doing very much the same. Same bands same places. I remember King of the Slums at the Boardwalk, and NFADS at the Hacienda

and World of Twist, and The Railway Children and Man from Delmonte and Northside and The Paris Angels and The Chameleons and Dub Dub and James. I remember The Housemartins played at some rock place on Oxford Rd. And The La's at the Uni years before a hit

Great times indeed, some of my favourite bands, have got to add Ignition, Dub Sex, Metro Trinity, What Noise? and Big Flame to the list.
