Mancini: "I think Dzeko maybe needs wingers, some crosses"

Of course, the first thing that Mancini did when he got here was strip us of two good wingers, Bellamy and Petrov. This made his approach very clear; he was going to play Italian- style. Despite the quality of our playing staff, this approach did not work well enough and that's when others started to get involved, buying AJ and Dzeko for him. Perhaps out of stubbornness, Mancini played his new winger-when he played him at all- on his wrong foot so as to keep our game narrow. Theoretically our 'wing-halves' were supposed to supply any necessary crosses, but we never saw many of them, did we?
What we have got now, is a team which looks as if it is made up of pieces from several different jig-saw puzzles and can't fit together and we look to be heading for fifth place.
What a disaster this manager has turned out to be. What did he expect from Dzeko when he knew that the team was completely wrong for his style of play.
I believe that he could be very successful in this League, but not for Mancini.

Post of the year.

Bang on the money.

Apart from the bit about Petrov being a decent winger.

I think its been obvious ever since Dzeko came that he needs crosses in for him to score. Against Notts when Tevez crossed it to him he scored the header easily, Now if AJ and Milner had done that against Liverpool then im sure that 18 year old defender would of gotten shitted on by Dzeko, but no, AJ and Milner try to play as strikers and go solo and score the goals by themselves... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BOM8gDZWGI

Most of his goals here are simply headers..

You cant blame Milner for that, he could barely get the ball n the first half. why? because hes not a winger, we put him in the middle and he looked much better. maybe if we put AJ on the left he would get more crosses in, instead putting him on the right is telling him to get it on his left and have a go.

Mancini's problem is he doesnt know his own players best strengths. Imagine Dzeko on tottenham, Milner at villa. and his buys dont make any sense. Needed attacking fb's with pace and he got boateng and kolarov, gets milner to play on the wing, Yaya to play AM. I think he is overthinking things, trying to be a mastermind when he should just lay it simple.

I think if Dzeko had went to Tottenham he would have had about 10ish goals by now. Why, because Tottenham know how t use tall players, look at Crouch easily the worst on the ball player but he scores non stop using his height and They feed him with crosses, something we should do... Milner is a LM/CM, so he should know how to cross the freakin ball if hes listed as an LM... For AJ okay, but he has to stop being Tevez #2 and trying to go solo from the wings and into the box and then trying to score and impossible goal. We are never going to see the Best of Dzeko until AJ, Silva, and Milner put in good balls for Dzeko to score. Ever since he came to MC hes never had a good 1 on 1 opportunity with the goalie...

Hopefully this means we will bring a wide man or two in the summer as it's one of the things the squad seems to desperately crave right now.

I think this quote is telling with the line up he's put out tonight. Obviously we haven't been playing to Dzeko's strengths so much and Mancini and everyone else knows this. I think the team we've put out tonight is there to feed Dzeko with some good crosses. Johnno providing the width on one wing, Milner can whip a ball in from the other, with Tevez dropping off and supportin Dzeko up front. Over to you Edin
iF THIS IS THE CASE WHY IN SO MANY GAMES DID MANCINI NOT PLAY ANY????????

Because he's a tactically useless manager...a one trick pony...it was painful watching that match against Liverpool the other night. First Half you had the ball most of the time but it was, pas it forward to the middle then backwards to one of the CB's...

I was surprised when I saw the line-ups and saw Milner presented on the right wing and AJ on the left, I was like, wow he finally understood this, he will put some crosses in for Dzeko at last (a reminder, Bosnia won against Slovakia away in a friendly, Skrtel played that match and was simply twatted by Dzeko who should I even mention scored in that match). But apparently even the people who do the graphics got fooled by the stubborn Mancini who is not giving up on his slow-slow- when he have Dzeko on the field...

One more thing, everyone is saying he played like shite, McMannaman (or whoever was it) said it clearly, he won headers, he flicked them on, he shielded the ball, controlled the hoofed balls and passed on to keep the play running, and was probably the best player in the first half ( best City player) but later on he saw that what he has to do is come deep (and he did that when defending corners and tracked back a few times and made successful tackles) get the ball and take on the defense himself, and since he didn't have any chance of doing that either (no passing, Liverpool playing tight pressing, and Balotelli deciding it is better to shoot from almost half way line then to pass to Silva or Dzeko who are in better positions) he decided to stop running and just wander around hoping for the match to end sooner than possible....it just pains to say, but that style of play is just ridiculous....

Anyway, what I could read from the paper now is that Balotelli will start in the SF so good luck to all the city supporters hoping he'll produce magic...I'm afraid it will be another Aris display by him...

And that speed thing, or Dzeko being slow, remember that preview of the match in the DM (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1375405/Andy-Carroll-Edin-Dzeko-need-Premier-League-goal-new-clubs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... clubs.html</a>) click on the picture and find that little thing about his speed, so if he's the sixth fastest city player and you think he's slow, then you're screwed...
