Mancini is a 'disgrace' - The Guardian

I doubt it Gary. Raymond was, as you say, an old-school cut-glass accent, BBC man. Barry is an Irish wanker of the Alan Green "I'm the story" school.

Not sure why you insist on using the phrase 'Irish Wanker' time and time again. What has anyone's nationality got to do with anything?
Fair point and maybe it's a personal thing but there is a breed of Irish journalist/media celebs that started with Wogan and include Glendenning, Alan Green, Colin Murray, Stephen Nolan, Eammon Holmes, etc who believe that people are desperate to hear their Irish blarney and (imagined) Wildean wit.

Ah that'll be Colin Murray, Alan Green and Stephen Nolan from Protestant Northern Irish stock? I think the phrase you're looking for is British wankers, they'd be horrified to hear you associate them with the papish next door neighbours but you carry on anway on your rant!
I'd also wager not many on this planet think of Oscar Wilde when Alan Green or that fat rag fuck Eammon Holmes open their gobs.

Maybe some people don't give a fuck about religion and thinks it has no place discussion.

My best mate is a catholic and another is a proddy. Both from NI (Derry) and both call themselves Irish though one does say Londonderry.

Don't tar all with your sectarian stick please.

I shall be waiting for the same reaction at all our home games when other teams put 11 men behind the ball

Northern Ireland is not in Britain so, no, it isn't.

Very true. Not part of Britain but part of the UK.

Also Wales is part of Britain but people can be Welsh (not British), same with Scotland and England.

Back on topic - I have followed the author on twitter now and reading his tweets, he would rather lose every game than play football the way we do. He also says we always play defensive and won't let facts get in the way. He disagrees that we have scored more than Spurs this season as he refuses to only count league goals and has told me spurs have scored more in Europe.

Jesus, it was said tongue in cheek and I think you will find that many folk in Northern Ireland would refer to themselves as British rather than Irish no matter what you two sensitive souls think.

Re the guardian; walked to my newsagents this morning and cancelled my regular order . . voted my feet as they say.
.....What the guardian doesn't recognise is that City fans are loyal to the cause, are delighted with progress, are signed up to Mancini and are not going to be put off by some poorly aimed sniping from a tw@ with a blunt pencil and a dull mind.

If you have a look at the Guardian site since the game there have been three more articles/blogs after the game - all of which were more positive about City than Arsenal.

The point made earlier about Glendenning being an online journo is spot on. The Guardian is MUCH more popular online that it ever was in print. This was initially because they were well ahead of the game compared to other newspapers, but now that everyone is online, they really are rating whores.

The blogs fluctuate in a good cop/bad cop way so to generate comments and extra page views, and the minute by minutes are intended to be much more "interesting" than the BBC online coverage. Glendenning is the resident loud mouth and he'd no doubt be laughing away to himself that anyone takes his opinion seriously.

The Guardian coverage of city has been pretty even handed overall - but the online work takes reporting away from the middle ground and you end up with OTT negative articles followed by OTT positive ones.
