What i think milners best ability is is picking out a dangers pass to break away from. That formation suited him perfect the other night because he had to good, fast wingers running forward always looking to break away. Ironically it was the two that made him look so good at villa to downing and young.
If we wanted to play like this we would need a good defensive line, holding midfielder to workhorse centre mids, two fast wingers and an out and out striker:
