Mancini or Mercer

I am just a little bit too young to remember the greats of the 60's being born in 63. However, I am led to believe it was more of a level playing field in those bygone days. So Roberto gets my vote. There was a lot of catching up to do and how he did it is quite amazing. His first season he was slated for being too negative, yet he worked to our defensive strengths at the time and just missed out on the holy grail of a top four finish but ended our trophy drought with an FA cup. The next season was, well dreamland, Spuds 1-5. Mucky Utd 1-6 and to top it all the most sensational premier league win of all time, hats of to both cos they will both be legends.

It was, as several have already pointed out, a different era. Talent, rather than money, ruled the roost in those days. It is inconceivable now to think of teams like City, Burnley, Derby and Nottingham Forest being league champions without money behind them, but back then it was the norm. You could also add Spurs, Leeds and Everton to the list.

Ipswich Town finished in the top four year after year with Bobby Robson in charge.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the amount of money in the game at the moment, my thoughts are that Genial Joe is still the best manager the club has had. If Mancini stays around for a few more years and manages to build a dynasty, then fair play to him, but it is probably easier to manage a rich club now than it was back in the good old days, when it was a more level playing field with resources more equally spread among the teams.

Joe has, after all, still got more trophies to his name than Mancini.

I was 9 in 1967 first game and all that stuff, 53 now our Bobbie Mancini did us proud. Just love the pair of them, but forget the money could Joe have done it to day ? For me only Bell and Watson catch.
Anyway bring on Southampton
Ok Watson not one of Joe's.

manchini proved my opinion so wrong last season with some of his genious substitions.

he's very clever.

mercer by a mile with no subs.
