One nil up, De Jong off (albeit injured). Last season would have seen Paddy or Milner come on. Yesterday, it was an attacking change, for Aguero.

Later on, Swansea had a freekick in an attacking area. Again, last season, we'd have seen 11 men in the box, but yesterday, he was waving at Sergio to loiter on the half way line, taking 2 defenders with him.

More of the same please Roberto.

Because it was against swansea. The team is not tactically strong and its strikers didn't give enough pressure. I think thats why bobby could replace ndj with kun. If we were playing against one of the top six, I bet he would sent savic or zaba up. FYI, paddy already retired.

Sorry I'm not having all this 'new direction' stuff in the media.

Basic principle is to keep a very tight solid defence, grinding the oppo down and striking when possible. The worse the team the more we can strike. Or the better our players.

His basic game is the same whether we draw 0-0 or win 5-0.

I agree. It amuses me when people contrast the attacking line up at the end of the game with the more defensive line up at the start and then argue that we should start the way we finished because that's when we scored the goals.

I'm sure Mancini works on the belief that its the initial cautious approach that leads to the more attacking finish. Its cause and effect not a change in tactics. Get on top and then turn the screw, open up the game when the opposition wilts. He'll never change that philosophy.

I think Mancini knows that if we go attacking and the opposition manage to nick a goal (which is very possible in any game) then most will retreat back into there shells and basically say to us 'come and break us down'. As we seen last season our style of play works best when a team is willing to try and play football against us. So mancini likes to start defensive and then exploit the space they leave.

The basic rule last season was if we go ahead we win, if we go behind we draw/lose or we rarely win.

I agree with this and since January the tactics seem to have been the same ........ we play the three holding midfielder's and keep them deep for the first 30 minutes whilst the strikers/wingers prod as best they can against the opposition.... and if we score then great as well as Bobby sussing out the oppositions weakness's during this time..... I can see why this frustrates some City fans but its Bobby being cautious......... then around the half hour mark and depending on the opposition after Bobby is a bit more comfortable he releases Yaya .... this can clearly be seen by his signals and Yaya starts to push up and run at the opposition (Semi final against rags was the most obvious as well as Swans on Monday)....... second half and depending how its working we change it for the last 15 mins ....either shore up the midfield if we are only just winning the game or play higher if we are chasing the game.

Finished the game with three at the back and two wing backs, or at least that is how it looked to me!

Let's be honest, with the strength in depth we have it would be a pretty poor show if we couldn't change formations a few times during games, depending on the opponent and how the game is going etc.

Thats how I saw the formation at the end. 532 when Swansea had posession. 352 when we had it.
