Mancio Post Poznan

When you are under pressure you play the players who will take that pressure away, he should have played a stronger team, especially at the back.

we now go into the weekend without a win in three, when did Chelsea, rags and Arsenal last lose three on the bounce.

There manager would have played a stronger team to bounce back. we need to stop catering to the whim of these so called stars and get them earning their money. if we were in the CL we wouldn't be playing the reserves and they would still be expected to win at the weekend.

The benefit of the this tournament is that you can get the team playing ready for the CL hopefully next season
It's an interesting point.

I think he's a professional gambler, and a single minded one. He walks the line all the time, did it at the start of the season by faffing about with the squad until the very last possible moment. He gambled that last night they could get the job done, now it looks worse, but would a win last night have shut everyone up, or would they still be on about two league defeats? If he'd have got a win last night but at the expense of lowering his chances of a win on sunday or wednesday, is that really a wise trade off? The only way to shut them up comprehensively is to get a draw and a win in his next two.
And if he'd played a full strength team and not got the win, that would have been the worst of both worlds.

Pressure is all in the mind and can work for you or against you; I think they will be highly motivated against WBA, it's a classic scenario we see played out all the time in the league. We need the win desparately, they probably are quite comfortable with what they have achieved recently. 'Confidence' has to be weighed against how resolute the individuals are. I don't see that last night's loss will likely have an adverse affect on players who weren't involved.

Disagree - Poznan never gave up and always tried to win the game - we fookin surrendered at 1 - 1 - no if no buts we got beat well and truly
I'm sorry but that is bollocks! We were piss poor and the performance wasnt acceptable but I can hardly remember Given making a save but saying that neither did theirs!!

The main problems this team have are that we don't commit enough bodies forward leaving ade/tevez isolated and giving needless sloppy possession away the 1st goal
was a classic example of this.

I agree we was piss poor i agree we did not put enough players forward but equally when we got the equaliser we sat back - Poznan did not - the broke fast and quickly and committed players forward on that basis alone they were more positive - comitted and wanting the win - City well we just fookin surrendered

M27 the reason he had to play zabaleta in there is because we can't afford to play a 2 in the centre of the park with vieira in there because of his chronic lack of mobility. We played with a 2 towards the end of the west brom debacle and pat was booked within 5 minutes for hauling somebody down.

He really doesn't help himself with his comments at the moment

If managers were judged on their ability to talk sense after a defeat, Mourinho would struggle to get a job at Stockport, Wenger would be plying his trade in the Blue Square Confference and Fergie would be out of work due to his refusal to talk to anyone that isnt nice to him.

Although I don't agree with all of it, that's a good well thought out post.

My main issue straight away last night was Zabaleta in midfield. The whole point of spending the money we have is that we have cover for all eventualities. I'm boring myself by repeating this but there's simply no reason for square pegs in round holes anymore.

Zabaleta and Vieira..two of our most immobile players. Sitting right in front of our back four. It was a terrible decision.

I've never thought of Zab as immobile, but, yep, it certainly didn't work.

Irrational meltdown? Ask me next weekend.

I think he decided to keep the 'big three' central players fresh for next week.

Which gives me some hope that he's not chasing his tail looking for the quickest way out of trouble.

even more fun is seeing how some amateur psychologist, trying to decipher the bodily attitude of managers who are professional communicators. who made numerous masters and training on self and management of emotions. and they have on their shoulders for years and years of experience in a team like Inter, where the pressure is 100 times heavier than any English team.
I'm a professional psychologist and this is my reading:
After Wolves Mancini was classicly anxious, bewildered and lost. This interview shows a man who is resigned, that's where the humour comes in in his expression. Almoast as if the pressure is off, he's concluded his time is up and there is no more he can do so human spirit kicks in and defense mechanisms, and the classic one we all use is humour and self depreciating expressions. Like a person who goes through trauma and decides to end his life, his final hours are peaceful and happy, his fate is sealed and the agony is about to be put to bed.
Have to say the Wolves post match interview was far more telling then last night which makes me think his job does not rely on the cup competitions, only the points target set for the top4. It explains why he put out a second string and kept Vieira on, taking Milner off and saving him for the next two games.

He might think that's the case because the Mission Statement states "Top 4 Finish" but in reality, failure in the cup competitions will lead to his downfall as well.

It's in his interest because a cup, any fucking cup, might save him come what may.

And this was my argument as to why I was furious about the West Brom capitulation.

Had we won that, we would have faced Leicester and Ipswich... we're almost in the semi-finals quicker than a Patrick Vieira track back...

EVERY game matters at this level, for a club like ours hoping to be challenging for everything.

I see Villa look destined for the semi's already... again.

Even a little bit of glory can buy a manager time. Fuck, even the odd win here and there helps!

And for someone who regularly struggles with the English language.. you seem to have found the right spellchecker for "professional psychologist"... well done!

Being a relatively new poster on here i've tried to resist commentating on what other posters have been saying on this and other threads although i have read most. I go back to the early 60's so i am fortunate that i have seen some success. What i have learnt over the years is that in order to achieve any kind of success, gain any kind of consistency is to stick with your manager. My own view on Roberto is he cares for the club, he seems to have an affinity with us. He is prepared to put the hours in to try to make us into a team that we can all be proud of. It takes time lads. All this talk of outing Mancini won't get us any where. We all have to stick with it, pull together, it WILL come good, we have fantastic players. Once Roberto has the chance to pick a full strength side and they get a few games under there belt we WILL start to see a different team with greater consistency. For those lucky enough to go to West Brom and for all of us going next Wednesday lets all get behind the team and show them we suport them. Thats what differentiates us from other supporters, even when we go through bad patches, christ we have been through some, we still manage to get fully behind the team. Have we all forgotten this? Has the money and the opportunity its given us changed our mindset, have we forgotten all the bad times, i for one don't believe it has. Lets all get 100% behind the manager and the team let the club get on with cultivating a team we can all be proud of. Its coming, soon, we just have to be a little patient. Apologies for the long post. Just thought i needed to say it. Wish i didn't.

F**k me! I'ts like seeing something I'd written myself. Well said.
