How do we have so many people in the UK experiencing food poverty theN Bob? I am struggling to understand why so many need recourse to food banks. I’m not disputing the numbers you quote, simply trying to understand it.

Food banks are free hence people use them as there is a high demand for free goods. If you give money away there is a high demand for that too.

A single mother with 2 young kids would get £976 a month, plus Housing Benefit/Element plus Council Tax Support. Around £19.920 net before council tax, which means not subject to the benefit cap. They should be able to afford more than a £1 a day on food - and if they are doing that it is a serious safeguarding issue for children's services.

I think you would have to ask the individuals at the food bank that. The figures quoted are correct and would almost put the income support family of 2 plus 2 on the same as a family working on minimum wage so hardly draconian. I could hypothesize and say some of them could have been sanctioned for non compliance or maybe some have more non essential debts after losing their job than others. If this is the case then it's of critical importance that they prioritize there outgoings and make a token offer to their debtors until circumstances change. Pay rent, food and utility and the rest can absolutely wait. However I would imagine a single person without children would find the U.C payments difficult to budget so for those that do need food banks they can provide an excellent service. What would you propose we pay for benefits, should they be immediately increased and if so by how much. I do know the minimum wage needs increasing to at least £10 per hour. Labour said they would do this and I was very impressed but like most I could not vote for them under their current guise.

What do they class as affordable housing, as it is aimed at people on low income.

Sounds about right to me, lad at work split from his ex and she has two kids and he reckons she’s pulling in £1300+ and what he gives her, she’s dropped another kid by someone else reckon she will be in £2k a month that’s more than my take home

In terms of legacy benefits it is the JSA, Child Tax Credit with Family Element plus Child Tax Credit without plus 2 x Child Benefit.

The only difference would be if the first child is born in the last 3 years and around £500 pa would be lost as the rules changed and the 2 child limit was brought in. Either way 3 or more kids you get hit by the Benefit Cap £20k a year, unless someone is on DLA/PIP or works the required hours to be exempt.

He has not got a pot to piss in and is clueless. His new apartments next to the mill conversion has sold 9 of the 75 units and it is finished. The spec is poor and build quality not good. The mill is 3 million over budget and was due to be completed September 19 and is now forcast to be 2 years late. It is not his money. He is a front for a high net worth individual. And the lines he is spouting are just utter cringe.

He look a bit like he is acting the part of a caring developer but his figures don't add up and the GDV will be much less than expected given asking prices currently on rightmove for that company.

Manchester CC gets let off with the absence of city centre affordable housing delivery, or viability issues caused by generous space standards making delivery more difficult.

Dennett didn't come across well in his flat claiming it was council owned when it hasn't been for 5 years.

I didn’t know that about Paul’s flat. I admire him for his principles even though I am completely at the other end of the political scale. Tim Wheatley has put his head totally above the parapet and he has to expect bullets to hit when his schemes are struggling. Most people I have spoken to think he has come across badly.

The flat is Salix Homes who transfered all stock from the Council 5 years ago and stopped being an ALMO , the only council owned stuff left is the Pendleton PFI area.

I thought TW bullshitting tenants about delays being just down to the grade of timer when that had only just been found out was disingenuous. As you will know conversions are the biggest risk in terms of abnormals and he seemed to think it was okay building in zero contingency giving bullshit dates to buyers.
